Scratch NAVIGATION DVD

My navigation DVD has a lot of scratches and the navigation DVD ROM reader unable to read the disc. My current dvd disc is version 4.55A. What is the version I should get in Ebay to work?

If you don't want to buy a new DVD, try cleaning your scratched up one with a little bit of toothpaste to buff out some of the minor scratches.

Mine had trouble reading too but it worked perfectly fine afterwards.

I've taken scratched discs to a video game store before to have them take the scratches out. Some have a machine that does it.

+1 on toothpaste. You'd be surprised.

If you have rubbing compound for removing scratches on your car you can try that. Same concept really, trying to remove scratches without burning through too much material.

You took it too a shop to have them run it through a machine? Wow. Must be some seriously deep scratches.

I know this is old. Better to piggy back on existing posts than make new
Anyone ever seen scratches this bad? They go all the way around the disc. And the disc was working...
I got this DVD player from EBAY and everything works but the disc is scratched. I removed that disc and input my other disc that I already had. (Same software version)
Just wondering if this means the player is going to mess up soon or can it keep going like this?
I may try to install little shock absorbers.. like cushioning washers so every time I hit a bump it doesnt transfer to the disc so easily. You know that thing spins constantly.. if you hit a bump its likely to jar it while it is spinning.
I listed to it spin while the car was sitting and it sounds ok. But when I inserted the disc it did sound like it was dragging on something... lovely. So, just thinking about softening the blow with little cushion washers if I can find such a thing..
