Hello and welcome.

I don't believe you can copy the navigation DVD with a regular DVD burner.

Double Layer? But you probably can't copy it as it's probably burned in a non-standard way or if you can copy it, it's tied to the car and you wouldn't be able to use the copy elsewhere.

You may be able to if you use a program like Nero that allows for overburning to squeeze every MB out of a disc...

yes it was double layer. I did burn it with nero 9. software loads into my navi, but it is unable to read the disk after loading software.

A sign that there is copy protection involved.

The DVD is encrypted. You'll need something like DVDFab that can decrypt the original DVD, read it, and write a new one. And yes, the DVD is dual layer.

Won't matter, I believe you need to activate it with a code based on your VIN number... Based on other people who updated their Nav.

The best way is to burn it with a MAC and use double layer disc.

It simply does not work

I have a friend who works for Acura. According to him it is simply not possible to make working copy of a navigation DVD
Even I have tried it with many different combinations. Didnt work.

There is probably a specific "layer break" that needs to be set when burning the image. I've run into this before when messing with various gaming systems. You need to read details of the original disc where the 2nd layer starts and layer 1 ends. Again though... I think there is an activation code or sorts needed to actually use?

Sorry fellas. This thread should have been closed when it started.

The site cannot allow discussion/instructions on copying Acura copyrighted material. Too much risk for the site.

Hope you all understand.
