Car won't start.

Put the key in the ignition and no lights come on. None of the power locks or windows are working either. If not the battery, could it be anything else serious?

I mean, that sounds to likely be the battery. Have you tried jumping it or charging the battery? I've had that happen before on mine and it was the battery that needed to be replaced. It could be something else, but the first thing to test is always the battery.

The most recent time my TL left me stranded was the starter. With the starter, everything else would still turn on.

Agree with last post, try jumping the car. Or check the battery voltage. In your other thread it was clear the battery cables have been "worked" on before, so those could be suspect as well.

So I tried jumping the car with a friend's 2000 Ford ranger. When hooked up the lights slightly became dim, the car didn't turn on though it made a few clicks but wouldn't turn over. When I unplugged the cables though no lights were on and the car wouldn't click at all when I tried to turn it on. He did mention his battery wasnt the best though if that helps.

Check all your fuses to see if something has blown.

and then get a new battery...

if nothing works, you're obviously not getting any power.

Yes, but remember the battery cables may be corroded internally where you can't see. That's what happened to me!

^ - I was having some starting issues the other month and thought it was the starter. Before getting too deep into anything I pulled the cables off and removed the covering. I was surprised at the amount of corrosion. After a good cleaning and rewrap I haven't had a problem since.

If connected via jumper cables and the lights are still dim, you either have crappy cables, crappy connections, or something else drawing down the power like a failed battery. The condition of the battery in the Ranger is not of importance here since his engine should have been running and the alternator able to provide the juice needed.

1.) As already posted, disconnect, inspect, and clean all of your battery posts, clamps, and cables
2.) Get your battery tested

Nothing more to add until you have tried a few of these recommendations. Report back and we can try to point you in the right direction. I personally would check the battery. Pull it and take it to Auto store for testing. If bad, buy new!
