So if some of you remember, I have an ATF leak (still do!).

I know where it's coming from; the gear position sensor.

I heard there's a seal behind there so I just ordered one today and it should come in Friday.

I wanted to take a peek at what's going on behind the sensor.

So I removed the sensor (it's held on by two 10mm bolts).



WTF is this stick that comes out LOL


It looks gross! There's like a milky pink fluid and gunk all over the sensor's hole and the stick that comes out of the transmission.





Is it okay to clean all this stuff off?
I don't know how sensitive the gear position sensor is so I don't want to just wipe everything down.

The gear position sensor is kinda weird. There's a hole in it. The stick that comes out of the transmission goes through this hole....

Here's the parts diagram I'm dealing with.


#27 is the gear position sensor
#36 is the seal I just ordered

I don't see the stick (that comes out of my transmission) in the diagram. WEIRD.
Maybe the stick is apart of the sensor and was supposed to come out with the sensor?

IDK. All I know is when my seal arrives I'm gonna look into it further.

Look at the spring #17 .. that looks like it slides over the shaft to its left .. which to me looks like the "stick" you speak of.

 

DUDE. I must be blind. The whole time I thought that side of the picture was a whole other part of the transmission LOL
