Buzzer sound when I start the car?

I think this probably the first thread I have started on here but, I have a strange problem that just started with my car tonight.

When I start the car it makes a buzzing sound from the steering column area. First time it almost seemed like it was not going to start. I replaced the battery about a year ago so I don't think it is that.

I turned off the lights and climate control and stereo and started it again. Same sound.

I am worried something is shorting out or something.

I will be calling my dealer in the AM and setting up an appointment but, was curious if anyone had any idea what the hell it could be.

Lucky for me this happened just BEFORE my warrenty is up. Hope I can an appointment and loaner soon.

Thanks,
Jim

It maybe to left of the steering column. Maybe a relay or something that is going bad?

Almost definitely a relay. Pull off the fuse box cover in the foot well and have someone start the car while you listen. Shouldn't be hard to isolate which one is buzzing.

Thanks for the feedback. Car is going tomorrow for service but I bet you are right that it's either a loose or bad relay. Really freaked me out the first time. Service writter thinks it could be the battery which I know I replaced maybe a year or two ago with a decent one.

He said he will quickly test that while I am there.

May be your engine is getting over heated though I am not completely sure about it. This disgusting buzzing sound may also arise from idle air control valve. Try to identify the exact place of the source of sound. Then I might be able to help you with more sound advice.

Turns out it was NOT the fuse box. Had to take it in AGAIN. This time they replaced a relay which is what we all thought the first time.
