Aftermarket CV Axles

Hello!

I have an 08 TL-S 6MT with 169k on it and am experiencing what seems to be the common issue of worn out CV axles. Been having some pretty rough vibration only under acceleration from 55-70, checked the motor mounts and suspension components and everything else seems fine. Neither axle boot appears torn or leaking grease but from what I’ve researched it seems the inner cv joints go bad and create the symptoms I’m experiencing. I was curious if anyone here has had any luck with the axles from RockAuto (Cardone, GSP, APWI) or any other aftermarket brand? Hoping replacing these will remedy the issue as I’m not sure what else it would be. Thanks in advance!

Had the same issue about 2 months ago, mine was in 2nd gear, and a litlle in 3rd. 20-35 mph range. Axles were original oem, car has 121,xxx. I replaced both axles with OEM from www.oemacuraparts.com. Mainly because I am on coilovers and this video and thread convinced me to just go with oem. The video here below flat out addresses this vibration I think you're probably feeling.

Also here is my thread (if it helps or not )

I appreciate all the info. I called around to a couple dealers and both axles are on back order with no ETA. I emailed Raxles for a quote. If that falls through I guess I’ll just go with GSP as I’ve seen on similar threads those seem to do okay. I don’t drive the car as much except for in the winter now as I primarily ride my motorcycle throughout the majority of the year so I’m not as pressed about aftermarket stuff. Also for clarification, I notice on the catalogue there is a difference between the driver side axles for AT/MT but passenger side is the same for both?

Haven't been here for awhile, so I thought I'd chime in. Our master star mechanic here in North Jersey, Paul says he's always had problems with rebuilt axles. Check rockauto for the best deals on new ones.

That’s what I’m going with, ordered GSP axles this morning. Will find the time to replace them shortly. I appreciate all the info!

I installed the GSP axles a few years ago, no issues so far other than surface rust which is a bit annoying. Raxle quote was $260 for right side axle. The OEM axles have continued to rise in price so I couldn’t justify it anymore

From what I’ve read on here GSP seems to be a pretty safe bet; just wanted to verify due to the price difference. Either way, if it fixes the vibration I’ll be happy lol

Please update us when you get them installed. My 07 TLS auto shakes so bad above 40 with these Napa axles. OEM axles are 260 each side!

Did gsp axles on both of my tls, Install went well no fitment issues, couple scratches on one but just on the shaft coating. Only got 5k on the new set but no problem so far. I've read the half shaft bushing can tear causing vibrations at certain speeds. Might be worth giving that a closer look too. Gl

installed them tonight and drove for 45 mins whilst pushing the car a fair bit, runs and drives great after install. Install wasn’t too bad, took a couple hours. Very smooth so far

@thoiboi this shit has me considering these aftermarket ones too. OEM is backordered, Raxles is up to $380 the last time Marty quoted me. I already paid $100 just to reboot the ones I had bought from him years ago. I'll take that convo offline with you but you know...

I need to check my halfshaft bushing as well.

GSP or APWI are the most successful aftermarket/rockauto suggestions from other members in the past here so give those a shot..

I actually don't even see an APWI option for manual so GSP is your only option.. plus for being 70 bucks each.. worth a stab at it ..
