I never had a problem until today, my car wouldn't start, it makes this clicking sound so I'm sure its not the starter, so i figure it was the battery since I haven't changed it in 4 years, i asked someone to help me jump the car, went to the auto part and exchange for a new one, after the new one, still wasn't working, i hear the clicking sounds but after turning it on and off it started, i thought it might be the alternator so I let my car run and took the negative off the battery, car still running, no problem. I turned off my car again, and turn it back on, not working again, had to trun on and off couple of times and it start again...what could the problem be? I got it check two months ago at the dealer and everything was good. NEED HELP!

 

Sounds like bad starter contacts. If that's the case, the starter needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

 

Yep, sounds like the starter is going bad. I had to replace mine last year and I don't think they make a repair kit for it.

 

sounds like loose or corroaded terminals to me.

 

I am going to get the started change soon, I hope it will solve the problem, thnks..wil keep posted!

hi Kris, I'm having the same problem with my 04 TL. how much did it cost you to replace that starter if you don't mind me asking?

you could check out an auto parts store to find an aftermarket starter...it should be around 200 dollars.
you can then either replace it yourself or find a mechanic to replace it for labor.
