Angry 2008 type-s nav screen gone again..

To make a long story short my original Nav screen was flickering so i took it to the dealer and they changed it..

Now the "new" screen looks like the is static/waves running through it.. WTF has anyone had this problem.

Funny thing is when they changed the first unit my address book and inprted cell phone book were still present in the "new" unit.. I assumed that they were gone...

If your disk came with the car & it hasnt been taken out & scratched up you should not need a new one. Did you do the Navi hack?

If the disc is not damaged, the drive in your nav unit has failed. If it's under warranty, you are golden. If you are out of warranty, send the drive to Alpine for repair. It's about $160 shipped to get it fixed by Alpine, the dealer will charge you for a brand new unit (they don't service the unit, only replace it), which is several thousand dollars.

Yeah its pretty bullshit especially at night...

I have an 8830 too and tried to import the phonebook like 10 times and it didnt work... Then one day i while i was driving and talking on the bluetooth I was playing with it and it worked...

it makes no sense I know but i have imported my phonebook twice in 2 years I just keep playing with it randomly.

It most likely won't load.

You're very fortunate. There's a list of phones that are approved for full compatibility. I don't think an BB's are on that list.
