reading both p0157 and p0158 codes?
It's an 04 TL auto with 70k.
Since I bought it 2 years a go it always smelled if you pushed the car hard (rotten egg smell from the cats), but I always drove it easy and rarely had this isssue.
I gave the car to my parents in law for a road trip upstate. Turns out they drove the car (accidently) in manual mode (the shifter in that gate to the left of D) for almost 2 hours on the way there. I know.. don't get me started.
They came back with a check engine light. Codes p0157 and p0158.
The cat still only smells when you push the car, but the engine light is always on. Even if you delete it it comes back after 10-20 mins of driving.
Was the cat always bad and now become worse? Or is the oxygen sensor bad? Is it both? Please help.
Thank you!
p.s. should i change the trans fluid?

i would not be too worried about driving the car in manual mode
the two code indicate o2 sensor problems
P0157 02 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2)
P0158 02 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

Should I just replace the oxygen sensor?
Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't explain it the right way.. they left it
in the manual mode but NEVER SHIFTED the car; the car just red lined until the computer up-shifted itself, they are an older couple so I guess they didn't notice the engine screaming or the temp gauge shooting up.
P.S. Thank you for your help.

I would check the wiring cause it's odd to get those at the same time
