Went to work the yesterday. Then went out for lunch. Then after work, tried to leave and my 08 TL type S wouldnt start. Didnt even try to turn over, just when I let go of the key. It went back to ll position. With a beeping noise iv never heard before, and amber flashing check engine. Turn key off take it out, and the beeping continues, then stops. Antitheft system?

 

First item I would check is battery voltage to be certain it's up to 12.5/12.6. Not the professional way of testing, but
one could turn the lights on, hit the starter to see if lights dim or stay bright.

 

Just to be sure, is the car in the Park gear? Also check that the battery terminals are very securely tightened, as loose terminals have caused starting issues for my '08 TL-S a few times before.

 

Is the green key light flashing on the dash?

Doubtful it's the anti-theft system. The anti-theft will cutoff fuel by disabling the fuel pump.

First thing is to check the battery is good ie. voltage, terminal corrosion, etc.. Get a good jump pack or use jumper cables if you're unable to check voltage. You can also just pull the battery and get it tested at Autozone.

 

Thank you! I cleaned terminals, I've had issues with them before but it seemed like the batterie was dead.Got it started by turning the clamp on the terminal. But this time that not the case. Green key flashes but goes away when its suppossed to. That's what made me doubt the antitheft system too! All my dash lights and radio/GPS comes o and stays on. Batterie was at 12v . Check engine flashes 5 times

 

Also, lol, right after I let go after turning to start, that melody/ beeping that I've never heard is a conserne

 

i don't know what that beeping would be. The only beep that I can think of is the headlight warning and key beeping.

Scan it and let us know if you have any codes.

The car does not crank at all? Do the dash lights, radio etc turn off when you try to crank the engine?

 

Thanks everyone, I was never notified when I bought the car, never worked for me. The problem was an aftermarket remote starter that interfered with my cars computer. They found a lil black box that wasnt wired very well. Put it all back stock,now shes running perfectly!!!!

 

That is why most shops hate aftermarket crap.
