2007 TL Brake Problem

Wondering if anyone has similar problem or could help me out. I have a 2007 Base TL and had the rear drivers side brake pad metal to metal at about 28K. The dealership changed caliper and rotor saying it was binding. The other rear pad on the passenger side had a lot to it.

Now 29k miles later I have the same problem. I am headed back to the dealership because I doubt there is a caliper problem again and was wondering what people were getting on Base models on the front and rear brakes. Is there a possibility of a bigger issue with the braking system in my car that was just never fixed properly? Thanks

The caliper might not be sliding on the pins appropriately. Take the caliper off and use some high temp grease on the caliper pins and make sure that the caliper can move back and forth freely.

It also could be a plugged line not allowing the fluid back into the master cylinder fast enough leaving the caliper engaged for too long.

Thanks, I went to the dealership and they claim everything is normal so I basically got 26K on top of the line Napa rear pads. They checked it for nothing due to having completed warranty work on it which was replacing the caliper in the first place at 33K. I got some line about how highway drivers replace the rears 2 to 1 to the fronts and local drivers do the opposite. My drive is 75% highway so Im not sold that is normal wear for the base models. I also didnt understand why your rear brakes would wear quicker on the highway if your not even using them? I know guys with the type S are going through pads quick but have not heard anything about the base models.

Gonna put on Raybestos and will have my guy check those other points. Im also gonna take a good look at the different pads and see how full the right wheel is compared to the left. Hopefully get it figured out....cant say I think the dealership is really going to do anything out of their way when they are not getting paid for it.

I am surprised that your brake pads only lasted like 28k. I am still on the original oem ones and I have 95k on my 06. The only thing that was done was rotors were resurfaced at around 49k
