2007 Acura TL Base PO134 Error Code

I just purchased the car in Ohio, It had a Check Engine Light which said Oxygen Sensor and also the gas cap was left off so I stopped and unhooked the battery to reset the ECM. I drove the Car to Wy and no Codes. After driving in town the code came back. We replaced with a Acura Oxygen Sensor and within 4 miles the code re appeared. We changed to another Oxygen Sensor and same results. The car doesn't miss and gets excellent gas mileage. It shows low actively and comparing to the other bank shows lower Mill amps. (There is a resister in the 8 Pin Plug that is (9.5 ohms) Not sure what it should be since just bought the car and may have been changed out prior>) The Acura Oxygen Sensor did not have a Resistor in the plug and wouldn't work until we installed the resistor out of the old oxygen sensor plug. We check the wiring and plugs appear to be ok?. Highway driving doesn't set the code PO134. Any ideas would be appreciated? THANKS

Check to make sure the o2 sensor is grounded properly.

O134 Error Code

We checked all the wiring to the computer which consisted of 5 wires from the sensor, 2 of which was the heater and everything measured out good. I am taking it in to a Honda Dealership in the morning, the nearest Acura Dealership is over 100 miles. Will advise if we find whats causing the problem. Thanks

The Honda folks will fix you up. Let us know what the issue turns out to be.

Po134 error

I took it in this morning to Honda at 7:30 a.m. and just got a call at 5:15 pm and was advised they wanted to keep the car over night since they haven't figured it out and currently on the phone with Acura Engineers. I don't believe they started on it until 10:30 am but at 11:30 they had a meeting at the car and shaking their heads. I left at 12:00 to eat and came home. Per the Lead tech he believes it could be a ECM since the trouble isn't constant. Will advise and may have to pass the hat before this is over.LOL

PO134 code Update

Check with Honda Dealership today, was advised the car needed another O2 sensor and possibly a new ECM? They swapped O2 sensors and the trouble moved from bank 1 to bank 2. They are currently charging $350.00 for Labor and additional $255.00 for another new O2 Sensor. If the new sensor doesn't keep the code from coming back then they want $700.00 for a new ECM. Ouch. I hate a shotgun approach to solving problems? This car just went out of warranty on emission which I understand is 4 years or 80,000 miles. I bought it with 80,126.. Will advise tomorrow after they put another O2 Sensor in.

PO134 Update

Picked up the car from the Honda Dealership today and paid the bill which was $681.81 which most was Labor. Talked with the tech and he couldn't really tell what was wrong. Said he learned a lot working on it. Just swapping the oxgen sensors found the trouble. Even thou the PO134 code is for bank 1. The trouble followed the bad sensor. They are the same oxygen sensor only the front has a longer wire harness. The resistor is to lower the return voltage to the ECM. Hopes this helps someone else in the future, if the PCM says its bank 1 you might swap it with bank 2 and see if you get the same code. Thanks

Po134 error code

Just drove home and the light came back on again? After spending over $1,000.00 dollars to fix? Took it back to Honda and they now want to put in a new ECM at a cost for the Computer of $599 plus labor to install and program which is an addition $250.00 to $300.00. I may go to a UGO before this is over. Anybody having any luck with Aura assisting?

I took the Negative Battery Cable off for a hour, reconnected it which cleared the PO134 Code, let the car idle until the fan when on, drove it like instructed and then I drove it to Denver, CO and back which consisted of 250 miles and no code until I was about a half mile from home and got the Code again. It seems as long as I have highway driving the code doesn't appear only with City driving? I am taking the car to a Acura Dealership tomorrow in Boulder, CO. Will advise?

Po134

Great News, The Acura Dealership in Boulder Colorado fixed the car. It ended up being shorted wires in the main harness due to laying on the transmission got hot. They spliced and insulated the wires that needed it and no more CEL engine light. They told me that someone forgot to put the cable bracket back on an another was bend. Took them about 30 minutes to figure it out and the total cost was $191.00. Honda charged $681.00 and wanted to put in a new ECM at a cost of $599.00 and labor to install and program it $250.00. Note: Honda charged me $209.00 for the oxygen sensor plus $25.00 shipping whereas Acura only $171.00 and $7.50 shipping. I also got a Military discount at Honda. LOL. I know a lot of people say Honda Dealerships are cheaper???

I'm is going through this problem right now. Same code. Dealer has a O2 sensor on order. $220 labor to replace. Is bank 1 the front sensor? I'm out of town right now but if I'm not mistaking isn't there a sensor between the cooling fan and exhaust manifold readily accessible? They want $220 labor to replace it. Surely it must be the rear sensor for that price. Going to print out the final for SgtYorks car and have it on standy by. Hopefully I won't need it.
