Ok, here are my current plans. These were set in place due to scraping the bottom of the a-spec lip when I visited my parents.

Phase 1:
Go with NBP color match. I'll have the scrapes on the black and gray of the a-spec lip repaired. The gray on the front and rear lips with be painted NBP as well as the gray in the grill area. The engine shrouds will also be painted NBP.

At this point I'll go ahead and have them fix any cosmetic defects with the front bumper, get rid of the swirls, and then have the entire bumper clear bra'd. Darn bugs in KS are pissing me off. Also now that I have to go home to my parents more than once a year, country roads are now a concern.

Phase 2:
Work with alex on getting the final Black chrome color done and then do full front grill, rear license plate trim, and rear emblems in a really dark black chrome. I might even debadge and just go with the A emblem in back.

I think when it is all said and done darksom1 will be glad to welcome my car to the dark side (unless clearing headlights is also a requirement).

Very nice! That V trim piece is sticking out like a sore thumb though. Some black chroming would fix that right up. Can't wait to see some more pics

This was a pretty bold move. I have to see more pics of it before I can really soak it in. Very different. I did always wanna see what the CF would look like on an NBP (hood that is). PPLAPW tried the CF on the inlay before as well. It is at least flowing in the same direction (CF). More pics please.

here are some days shots. I had the grill made locally, its a one-piece.

What do you think I should do about the "V-trim" Should I color match it to the bumper?

Ussi, looks great! Props to you ussi for resurrecting this thread with a mesh grille mod!! I've been talking about doing this forever but got sidetracked doing a whole A/V setup in the car for now. I have anthracite as well and was planning to do the lower "V" of the grille in CF just like yours. The lower grille trim strip has been painted anthracite on my car. You'll see how my car will look with the mesh and CF with anthracite trim or try A-Spec grey for the trim piece for contrast. It was my second choice.

Frankly I am not a big fan of CF hoods but the look you have there is definitely unique. It looks different I guess without that upper grille molding on the hood.

2 things that would truly make your car look outstanding in my opinion;1) If only your headlights were totally blacked out. I'm sure you were looking for a different look rather than doing what so many others have done, but it would have really completed that aggressive deadly look. But then again I'm sure you wouldn't want to go through all that "fun" of cracking those headlights open again. 2) Nice 19" wheels will also transform that car. You already have it lowered with the A-Spec kit. IMO that would make your car look seriously ready for a track. Anyhow overall, you get credit here for being original and tackling this risky mod.

btw welcome back darky!

Thnks for the input rocky! I pretty much agree everything you said...after I got my headlights done I realized I didn't like them as mush as I thought, and that was because I should have blacked out the housing as well...I dunno what my options are now...I've been thinking about cracking them open again and getting them re-done or maybe trying to swap with someone..
I'm trying to sell my old rims and maybe pick up a new set. Lastly, I also wanted to do the lower two grills with the same mesh, but i'm a little unclear about how to put the mesh in to give it a clean look.

My car is still in the body shop as I type this. I'm hoping to have it back by this weekend and I will post pics of my grille in body color (I decided to leave the center horizontal centerprice w/ the "A" as stock) If I don't like the look i'll have them paint the entire thing body color.

i plan on blacking out the emblems very very soon. unfortunately the roads in boston are way to messed up to drop my car, i am contemplating putting air bags in, because that might work but a drop definately will not in these parts!

Has anyone done or thought of putting the mesh in front of the original grill to create a more flush look like the ronjon kits do? Any thoughts or ideas about how it would look or how it could mount?

i'm planning on matching the mesh with the lower grills, behind the openings, when you take the bumper off or look behind the rj kit i'm not to sure about the stock bumpers but i'm almost certain on the rj kits that there are spots to fit a few screws behind the grill, if all else fails you could always glue the edges on the interror of the bumper too. just be careful to make it clean if using the glue option!!

Well I got my car back from the body shop and I'm pissed because they told me they didn't feel comfortable painting of the stock grille because of the possibility of chipping etc.. I'll just take the grille off and have the same shop who did my rear trip paint in. What a real PITA, why can't people just do what you ask for once!

dj pensive, grills are looking good, but wow man that is a lot of silver.

Evader, that sucks. I just dropped my car off at the shop today to have the following done:
Grey on front/rear lips, grey on bumper (in grill area), and satin grill pieces all painted NBP.

I need to get my butt in gear and do some more on the black chrome.

That is definitely unique! Looks like a stand-up job as well. I have never really been a CF fan for the exterior, but to each his own. Looks great tho! Definitely a fan of unique!!!

Home projects keeping me busy nowadays so I am not on as much. Flooring and other stuff. But I still check in now and again to give ya'll hell! LOL!

So frustrated...

Ugh...

So I got my second test peice of "tinted chrome" from Atlas. I returned the first batch as the tint was just plain too blue and too dark. I asked this time the for the browner tint.

It's brown... I mean it's almost red. I give up. All I'm trying to accomplish is these pieces within the ballpark of the OEM "black nickle" of the TL-S trim. What to do now?...
