Ugh fuck my life - I washed her today with some genuinely good weather and with the sun out I've realized just how bad the clearcoat is right now. I'm wondering if I should just do a 2 stage polish at the detailer, have them do a complete wet sand and polish (which is going to be twice as pricey) or just save up for a respray (even MORE expensive). It seems like most of it is surface scratches...

Also saw an incredibly hot asian girl driving a Maserati Gran Turismo Stradale Edition (in white no less) at the gas station. Damn near spilled gas all over the car

Just pay the detailer...or buy the porter cable 7424, orange/white/black pad...and megs 105/205 and a polymer wax of your choice. Done. You won't burn the paint.
your mind is telling you nooooo...

I myself, was skeerd to venture into the detailing. My Mustang finish was horrible with some very fine grain over spray and dual GT500 inspired stripes which were ready to be removed. Lucky, I had a friend who hooked it the fawk up! Using Wolfgang & Pinnacle products + down time of 2 days. The end results was to die for. Shots of before a& after can be seen on my thread. U either know what you are doing or know someone who does For the years I been a member here, I know Jeremy knows his shyt bout that detail & shine

Welp, had a nice conversation with the detail shop today, was indeed told that wet sand is for show cars and to gtfo if its a daily (nicely of course, guy was a gentleman ), he had a good look at the car and now I have an appointment for the end of March. Very excited
Do you guys think I should throw on the lip kit before I get the paint worked on so that its uniform? I imagine that would be the ideal scenario since I'm going to be getting it coated as well

Check out their instagram, the work they do is really impressive. They had an original 1967 Mustang in the shop when I came in to chat with Marco about working on my TL and it was just pure sex
They actually detailed my interior when I first got the car and they just completely brought the leather back to life. I didn't even realize how dirty it was until after I picked it up
And if its worth something, they regularly work on some high dollar cars. Maseratis galore.

I was told by a Detailing Expert (and former Type S owner) that you never wet sand OEM paint.

Steven the shop owner told me the same thing but the reason behind it is more because it seriously thins out the clear, which will be a nightmare for a daily driver - a full wet sand prior to a respray for example makes much more sense, or a wet sand on a show car that's been repainted like you said. Funnily enough the Mustang they had in the shop was a good example of this

^^^^ Good to know N1. That is obviously more of the full story!

Also y'all can call me Victor or Vic or V or whatever. I feel almost silly every time I hear N1 because while it's my online handle for just about everything (mostly gaming really), what its really supposed to be is Nihility, and then the nickname is nilly or nil, so n1 makes me think we're calling basketball fouls here
Anyway I have no idea what brought on that little rant. Have a great night gentlemen
