Thanks everyone for the insight!

Update;

Went in to meet a buddy today at Acura to get the car looked at. I had reset the CEL the other day and therefore needed to drive it a while so it could go through all it's drive cycles. In VA, you can pass emissions on an 08 car with no CEL while 1 drive cycle is still incomplete. On older cars you can pass with more incomplete cycles, but the 08 is more strict. All the rest must be complete and "ok." I drove it around all morning and still had 2 out of 8 incomplete cycles (evap system monitor & catalyst monitor). This was risky and was a problem because if the drive cycle that caused the CEL completed first, I'd have to start all over. I've done this before and its a PITA. You basically have to drive around with the code scanner plugged into the OBD and check it repeatedly until you have the right number of ready cycles and no CEL, then pull over ASAP at the nearest gas station and pass inspections. Its a loop hole I learned a long time ago

I kept driving around all morning and had no luck, so I took it to him and he was able to use his software to force "ready" the evap drive cycle and I passed inspections!

He then updated the software as per the TSB. No CEL yet, but updating the software resets all drive cycles so I'll need to properly get it tagged and insured tomorrow and drive for a bit. The hard part (passing inspections) is over though.

Hooray for good friends at Acura

Sadly today was probably my last day driving the DGP, tomorrow tags get turned in and I will be driving the Type-S full time! Gotta call and get insurance quotes and all that crap too; we shall see!

Quan, I'm glad everything passed inspection.

Hey, it will be sad for the DGP, but you're starting on a new journey

I updated the date on your thread's title.

Awesome! I guess we take for granted that we don't have inspections anymore in Florida.

Hell yeah, no inspections for the WIN!

Congrats, Q! Welcome to the NBP club! Can't wait to see what you do with this one.

Personally I think the Works (in your avi) would look SICK on NBP.

Thanks guys!

Sadly I sold those Works already; too much trouble driving on 19s, I will stick to 18s from here on out! If my Volks don't sell I'm going to paint them a new color and throw them on the Type-S...Love em.

Didn't get it registered today; somethings holding me back I guess. Have a lot of logistical planning to do with the DGP and getting it parted out, have to get the suspension and navtool as well as the front/rear bumpers removed and swapped. I will need to drive it for those things and I don't want to pay for insurance on 2 cars if I don't have to. So the Type-S will sit until I get my shit together and am ready to sell the DGP...

Sucks!

On the other hand I got some TPMS sensors yesterday in the BM for my A-Specs; I'll be throwing those on the Type-S soon; gotta clean it up. Also placed my order with BrakeMotive for drilled/slotted brakes and rotors for the Type-S...even though it already has new brakes and resurfaced rotors.

LOL...don't expect us to believe you feel badly about not letting go of the DGP too quickly. We all know how hard it is to let go of the old love...I've been there and the last time, it was by choice also, which I think made it harder. I STILL to this day wonder how she's doing...
Sad.

Dat NPB on spacered out aspecs and coils...

Yeah, I look forward to it!
Honestly, I try not to look at that picture, it makes me want to slap the aspecs back on for a bit.

Haha I LOVE the aspec wheels. Thats one set up I will not be selling in the near future.

I decided that if I don't sell the Volks soon I will paint them gunmetal or something and throw them on the Type-S. The tires are kind of bad so I'd rather have the Aspecs on since they have fresh all seasons...Maybe I'll plastidip them black for the winter to protect them...Ebony chrome seems to be a weak finish. I also ordered a set of brakes from BrakeMotive but they'll likely sit for a while since the Type-S has freshly resurfaced rotors and new brembo pads... unless I can find someone who wants to buy those lol.

I think I may register the car tomorrow...I decided I'm going to try to swap out the suspension on the DGP myself and it will likely be sitting in the air for a few days so I'll need a daily driver...Type-S FTW.

Unfortunately the weather was beautiful today but I had classes so I'm stuck here typing this. Could have been a productive part out/swap day!

Phew!

Finally got the Type-S registered and have been enjoying it all weekend. No Check engine lights yet, but I filled up with some 93 premium the other day and threw in a bottle of Chevron Techron...Figured it probably wouldn't help anything but couldn't hurt either lol.

Shopped around for insurance and got pretty lucky, almost 100$ less than what I've been paying monthly on the DGP, and this car is 4 years newer and considered "sport!" I'm pretty happy. Speaking of the DGP, its finally taken its place in the carport where it will sit as I continue the part out. Poor girl.

The Type-S got one of its first mods this past weekend also, I swapped over my USR Switchback sidemarkers and all the LEDs from the DGP. (well, not all)...lol I thought about getting some red ones for the domes but I like bright white so much better. The black interior and headliner make the car ridiculously dark at night...It's gonna take some getting used to! Still haven't gotten a chance to properly wash the damn thing and post pics though!

Umm...100 less a month? Did you accidentally have the DGP listed as a Bugatti or something? WTF?

^^^

Q, the insurance companies mess shit up and never reduce your insurance premium even though your car is getting older....ever seen the insurance premium go down over years of ownership on the car, even though your car is depreciating in value??

I tend to email my State Farm agent every 6 months before the policy payment is due and ask him to readjust....i usually pay $10-20 less (per 6 months) on each car....i remember back in 2007 i was paying $700/6 months on the TL....and now am paying close to $210/6 months....turning 25 and getting married were the 2 life events where I got some serious discount

either way between my 2005 TL and wifey's 2003 Lexus, I pay ~$420/6 months

^^^ call the insurance company buddy....

or just try this, go to your insurance company's website and "request a quote"....give a random name and your neighbors address but do give the correct age/date of birth (this way you will get a quote for your area and your age)....see how much the quote comes to....i can almost bet it will be less that what you pay....so for the same car/same driver/same coverage/same neighborhood and miles driven per year, you will see a lower quote....

Well, honestly, for the sake of whoever that kid was, I felt kinda bad about it. Plus Steven told me it sucked...

Trust me, I try and get deals left and right...I am pretty close with my agent. I have to see if they do take the age of the car into account though, that's a good point. It's a fkn 9 year old car now.

^^^ i dont think any 04-06 TL will be worth more than 15K at this point....even it it has navi and MT and what not....

you are right, 9 years = 18 insurance cycles...if every time you paid an average of $500/6 months, you have paid upwards of $9K in insurance for a 15K worth car...your insurance should not be more than 200-300/6 months unless you have a bad record and you live in a very high accident/car burglary zone and you are under 21....

either way, talk to your agent....am pretty close with my agent too and he had us on the "home owner discount" even though we dont own a home (yet)

PS: by you i meant in general and not you in person....i would hate to "violate" the peace treaty we signed

Naw man, I think we both know where we're coming from. That treaty should be good for life now.

I guess you're right, but I can tell you that South Florida is BRUTAL for insurance fraud and accidents so the rates suck. $100 a month is actually pretty good.

Yeah guys, I was quoted some crazy crap.

Previously I was paying about 600$/6 months with my father and I both as drivers on the TL (he doesn't have a car, retired). Hes 65 and I'm 22. Then all of a sudden allstate wanted 1450$ because of accident history (1 at fault, 2 not at fault) and my dad and I got some tickets in 2011. I couldn't/didnt want to pay it so I went with i extended my policy monthly for 2 months because I wanted to weigh my options and see what else was available.

Eventually I called all the major companies and they were all quoting me 250+ per month by myself, 1 car, myself as the driver and only me on the policy. Eventually Nationwide hit me with $165/month and I signed with them. Comprehensive deductible 500, Collision, 1000$. It was actually cheaper to insure the car by myself, without getting my dad involved. There was no way in hell I was going to go liability on the Type-S!

I'm satisfied!

@ Jeremy...

Q, I think its because of the age...as the age goes up the chances of accidents get higher....either way, give it time and it will go down

Hey guys.

We had more beautiful weather today and yesterday and I was stuck working on group projects and whatnot so I didn't get a chance to spend any quality time with either of my girls.

But today I visited a buddy at a body shop today and decided to get the front bumper repainted. There was a screw hole behind the license plate I wanted fixed and of course, the whole thing has to be painted from the usual rock chips and what not.

Due to that, I jumped the gun a bit and ordered the A-Spec kit from Bruce (ACKTL05). I thought buying the front lip only made sense since the front bumper would be off anyway and I could have him install the lip for free. Then, I figured I might as well buy the rest of the kit since its cheaper together rather than buying it in pieces... LOL!

I'm also having him paint the chrome sections of the grill similar to your car, J

Anything else you guys think I should get done? He will be mixing up paint and working on the car anyway so I figured now is the time to get anything I want painted since it will cost me next to nothing Maybe the main engine cover?

Pics coming this weekend when shes done hopefully!

if you REALLY wanted to get nuts...paint the bezel in your headlights (and tails?) professionally while they're spraying.
Going to look awesome, man.

I need to respray my bumpers...but I'm trying to keep from doing it.

I like the grain the plastic, especially now that I know how much labor would be involved.
Meaning what? You'd have to sand it totally flat?

I would suggest removing the roof spoiler from the DGP and having it shot NBP. Not sure if you sold it during the part out of the DGP.

Thats one way of doing it, but I would scuff it good and spray a good thick flexable primer on it and sand that smooth.
