There are 2 surefire ways to protect your rims.
Curb it once yourself. You likely won't ever do it again after all the anguish.
Don't let wife driver you car or your rims on her car. Lesson learned.
Fender to ground I'm at 23 5/8" Front and 24" even rear.
The biggest factor in your lowered appearance and FTG in inches (aside from the suspension itself) is the corrected camber. Going from negative 3 to 1 will raise the car a good half inch. I'm ballparking it, but I bet I'm not far off. My camber is corrected from the top on both front and rear and is between -1 and -1.5.
Obviously a drastic difference in rim size makes a difference too...if I were to slap on some 16's my car would appear a lot lower...becuase although measured, the rim and tire 's inverse relationship would balance out, tires give when you put 3500 pounds on em...rims don't. And when a tire is tucked into the fender, it looks a lot lower than when it's just sitting at the fender.
Meko...one corner at a time. GIT ER DUNNNNN!

Why?

JK

Last time I gave my car to a female was my ex. Just once on a open road, so that she feels the difference between the TL and her 1.3L Toyota Yaris in Istanbul

She couldn't do full throttle

How do you correct a camber?
One of these?
http://www.heeltoeauto.com/home.php?cat=656
I have no idea about what's on that link
And I need it if I am lowered more than like 1.5 right?
Austin do you have camber kit? Adjustable or whatever?
MEKO, +20 is a bit aggressive...1/4" isn't enough to make up for 10mm more poke.

It's doable...just don't know if you want to run that.
Here's a thread you should probably see

And thanks for that link

More I read, more I see it
I have no idea about rims
My 8.75+20's are almost flush, but not completely. I don't consider it that aggressive. When you have to pull/roll fenders and run huge negative camber and a crazy stretch, then I consider it aggressive hehe. I could probably run a 5mm spacer if I wanted with minimal rubbing. However, to be that low and flush, I can't run anything wider than 215 tires.
Meko, if you're dead set on those 535's and want to be modestly aggressive without overdoing it, MY suggestion is to get 18x8.75+20's with 225/40/18 tires, then drop it just enough to get rid of any wheel gap. Similar to the 530's, I think you will be losing some of the concavity if you go +35 instead of +20, which is part of what makes the 535's look good.

Wouldn't 18x8.75+20's with 225/40/18 be just like yours?
Then, I really really have to go that low so it looks good right?
Using 235 or 245 with that, would be like this?
Very less stretch, actually none
See, can't go lower, because it will rub?
Fender stays right on top of the tire. Doesn't take the tire to inside of the fender.
I like that

But using 235/245 with +20 will look ugly right? Because pokes out too much. Have to keep the tire inside the fender, so looks clean.
Dammit this is like harder than my Engineer courses
You bish
What did I tell you guys before adding the A-Spec
I was going to fix it but painting moved me away.
I thought light coats just to that area could do the trick but, Anil and Steven told me, do it once and do it right.
I went to Acura's shop, idiot told me at least $200. First have to sand, primer blah blah
Waiting for some heat outside. Will try testing on the parts I took out of the car. Crack, fix, paint and see the difference
at JohnBut then I won't be able to buy your tires

Steven

Looks awesome but I can't go that lowww

That's why trying to keep "stretch" very low with wider tires? <----+ am I thinking right John?
What I want is, outer edge of the tire.. matching with the fender. Not staying inside nor outside. Even if I keep the car high, will look nice.
Inside is better of course..could use spacer to match it

^ but but but... ok

Is this the answer to my mind John?
18x8.75+20's with 235/40/18
So even If I don't go low as your TL, will look ok. I don't want too low you know...
Edit:
Checked out some pictures
225 looks good too, don't have to lower the car crazy
Dammit
So close
Which one now

Nice, was thinking of getting the same wheels! 535s look FANTASTIC!
I have a 18x9.5 +35 with a 15mm spacer up front to clear my brembos.
Now it pokes 5mm in the front. No spacers in the rear just yet.
I'm running a 245 tire all around. I only rub in big dips and at highway speeds.
So a 18x8.75 +20 should give you even less rub... I assume.
I, on the other hand, was thinking about getting the 18x10.25 +20. Also on a 255 tire.

And yes I have that.
Ingalls rear camber kit (also has an adjustment for toe)
Naturally my camber was -2.8
now that I've corrected it I'm at -1.5.
My fronts are naturally sitting at -1.5 right now.

Meko...you dont have to buy my tires bud....I was just throwing it out there
about the rims and fitment, do it once and do it right....talk with people who have great fitment, see what they have to say....
if I had to do it again (and was going for stance/flushness), I would drop first, get some 8.75" or 9" wheels and 225/235 tires....then order spacers if needed....
I think you are rocking the stockies pretty well....why dont you paint em dark graphite or white once you drop....I think it will look awesome....

^^-1 for painted stockies. I don't know why but I've really grown to dislike the plastidip and painted wheel craze.
Only thing I've seen that I still love was an aspec wheel that was powdercoated white on a white TL.
No offense, btw...just my personal disdain.

^^^ none taken
..and I dont blame you...I think people are taking plastic dip and paint to a "different" level....the reason I suggested that was because I remember this SSM which looks SICK on dark graphite stockies...nothing crazy like blue or yellow or green....

and with his new white wheels....

LOL...Tyler agrees with Austin, who agrees with Jeremy. This is getting good.
I just mainly feel like the factory finish is just too hard to duplicate. The durability and gloss of it doesn't end up being matched by the rattle can effect. Or people don't know how to do it right. 06TL4Life's car is fkn awesome...it did look excellent with the graphite stockies, I agree.

you being nice to me...its a pleasant change you know
but i agree that the silver on the stockies are hard to replicate and a lot of people (including me) dont do it right....but if done right, you (Meko) have a ride looking like 06TL4Life's car....
that being said, I like painted stockies....guess the ricer in me still lives

Comes to $580 shipped. I hate this, can't wait but need coils first.
I will listen John and go with 225 for sure
This guy has 18x8.75 (+20mm) & 225/40-18 all around - all fenders are rolled
and does rub with passengers on the car

but I might go little bit higher drop than that.
I like this height. Actually little bit more lower, to top of the tires
18x8 and the Tires are 245/40/18
These shots

Either one of these? But, what is the difference? As I understood, I don't have to touch the fronts? Since will not slam..

And I agree with Tyler
First of all, not a fan of painting stockies. Tried with plastidip ones...BUT 06TL4Life did a god damn nice job with it, looks amazing with close up pictures.
But, still too dark. I don't want them dark.
Anil, I did search on this and couldn't find a color or a coat that is smilar to A-Spec gunmetal color. So gave up
+
I wouldn't want to waste time with that in summer also. Just buy xxr for $580

Good stuff, buddy! I just got my trans filter and such this morning from the dealership
got 2 qts D4 and 1 qt Racing on the way also!
And yes to those camber kits.
I have the first link kit. When you order make sure you put a quantity of 2, otherwise you'll only get one side!
I'm also liking those wheels in the pic. I think why that guy rubs is because the +20 offset. I have no idea how but maxed on my Teins I'm not rubbing at all.
Then again I haven't had anyone ride in the back of my car.
Either way you go, I'm excited to see all the progress you will be going through with the car.

No, you first tell us what are you going to buy from XLR8

Thanks dude.
I am thinking of getting the same set up
+20, like JohnNot many people sit on my car, we always take friends A6 but I fill every inch of the trunk. Sometimes have to buy stuff for dads restaurant.
Well...adjust the coils then, right haha
Same here, rims + drop, done

Oh forgot to tell, tint will come too, 35%
Also black vinyl roof
Adjusting the coils calls for an alignment. I wouldn't adjust them too much
Idk what I'm buying from XLR8, I have till the end of Feb.
Might just save my money, the car has enough on it
If you're worried about rubbing and rolling fenders and all that jazz I'd back the offset a little bit. Like +30
heh heh.

Shudup and go get allignment
I know you need one
Yeah I know... after I set the height, I won't touch it for ages... Am I you?
Noooooo, what I want is that +20
No 30, yes 35 but then I have to add spacers, which I don't want
I don't know may be..goddammit this is making me crazy

^^Austin, on Saturday you will have a REAL man bouncing around in the backseat of the car to check for rub. You're welcome.
MEKO, I look forward to all you have planned, buddy. PS...if you want to keep it simple and clean...you can do your calipers in gloss black, and then just add color to the RDX covers so that way you can revert back or swap colors OFF the car and a lot more easily.
And also, use this type of sealant...it held mine on just fine and the over squeezed stuff that comes out dries clear so won't clash

Why the hell would you say yes to +35 and no to +30?

It drove me nuts too.
Like you saw in that thread I linked you.
Everyone has a preference, just depends how you want the car to look.
And thanks, J!

I guess rear ones cover the whole caliper, but not front.
I would want to paint the front calipers as well, since orange will look bigger
Isn't this the one I have to use?

Austin,
I meant the rims I want doesn't have +30, but have +35

Well, I used the clear one, and really, it seems to be on there REAL fkn hard and it's clear so doesn't make a big black mess on your nice new copper calipers...it dries clear too.
I got the one at walmart that I linked, it's adhesive, which is what matters...I set one side, went to do the other, when I came back to the original side...it was already dry enough to not move, didn't even need to use tape to hold in place...I kinda bent the tabs a little to adjust until they'd hold themsevles...(since they were previsouly installed on QUAN's CAR).

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh
That's right, I don't want black to ruin the orange
Thanks J.
and received the right cables for my triton today
Let me see tomorrow how bright they are
