Yea if I was still working full time then I would have bought new and probably would have went with the ISC's, but right now and for that matter the next 3 years I'm going to be modding on a very small budget So the used teins were perfect! Even if I still have to get new top hats. Which I may just ask for as a xmas gift. It sucks being broke! And I've been fortunate enough to never have been in this situation before, so I just have to get used to it!! And by the way, thanks for everyones help so far! Its much appreciated!

^^^ DD i feel you dude....couple years back i was in a similar situation and I stopped modding the car for couple months....

bills>maintenance>modding

but yeah it depends how much you are willing to spend with coils...i spend $825 shipped to my door....not sure how much you got the Teins for and how much the top hats are....either way, you should not have any problems selling em if down the line you plan to switch

Exactly man, I just have to be smart with my money, I guess its apart of growing up!

And I was looking to be in the same price range as you, about 800. Now I never checked to see how much shipping+tax+duties would be for me to get them to canada but I'm sure it would be close to 1000 total. And the Tein's should be about 800 all in. Possibly a little less. Which is perfect for me right now!

I shouldn't have to get rid of them. I have a few other things laying around that I need to get rid of like a spare set of rims+tires from my old TL, an extra laptop etc.

^^^

its all about managing your finances...i never pay for a mod using a CC...always cash in bank....if no cash in bank, no mods

and yes, going with the TEIN's is a good decision in that case...

Lol I use my CC all the time (I get cash back) But I'll only buy extra's (mods) If I know I can pay the CC bill at the end of the month. I'm still debt free and I need to keep it that way and not let the mod bug take over!!

Also, car's going in for A1 service and getting my snows put on this afternoon. And my brother's buddy knows someone that can hook me up with getting the coils installed. So they might be on sooner than expected!

Very nice...
I was kidding, also. I don't charge anything I can't pay for either. No debt...another reason I don't have a brand new car. Paid off FTW!

AWESOME....gotta love the cashback

i even put my rent/all utility bills/cellphone/ internet everything on a CC and make a single payment to my CC

another CC gets gas/groceries/eating out/monthly expenses....

coils (with top hats) is an easy breeze job....without top hats it does get a little complicated/time consuming....but either way on getting it installed sooner than later

Yup! I do the same! I get charged for using my debit card so instead I use my CC as a debit card basically.

And just curious, roughly how long will it take to install the coils? WITH top hats installed. I've seen anywhere from a couple hours to 4 or more hours? I was going to remove the rear seat before bringing it in, so that I wouldn't have to pay someone else to do it. With all this in mind I was guessing maybe 2 hours??

^^^ you have you head in the perfect direction....

take the rear seats and deck panel out before you take your car in....also take the front strut bar off....

so if your friend is a mechanic or you taking it to a shop, then it wont take them more than 1 hour if you have top hats installed...if they have to install the top hats as well, i would say 2 hours....

now this estimate is only because the car is on a lift and they have all the tools they need....

Yea he owns his own shop. So he'll have all the tools needed. He was going to charge me labour at a discounted rate, but he hasn't decided on a price yet. I figured if it was only going to be an hour or 2 then I might as well just pay someone to do it.

It's not that I don't want to do it or that I'm not capable, I just don't have the time. I would love to do it myself, just to get the satisfaction of doing it and I love working on cars. But I have more important priorities right now

took me 2 hours just for coil install (without swapping top hats) and without power tools....

since his friend own a shop (lift/power tools/etc) and charges by the hour, i think he should be able to get it done quicker

Yeah...but, you know...you're smart and stuff. I spent 15 minutes staring at the 14MM socket wondering what the heck it was for!

you are only allowed to spend 14 minutes staring at the 14mm socket....

and that is for the middle bolt for the blinker fluid reservoir

Thanks everyone! I'm excited! Strut bar and plate frames will be on as soon as I have time. Coils will either be put on during my reading week (February) or spring time and roof vinyl won't go on until spring.

24no7, I got the strut bar from heeltoe but you can get it straight from RV6 if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks guys,
This is the frame I got-

Amazon Amazon

Its really nice, but its really thin. You have to be very gentle when installing it or it will crack/break when tightening the screws.

Thanks D...I might end up ordering that too...I have a chrome "TL" one that my buddy gave me, but I never like it so I take it off, and I once trimmed my plate with CF wrap...but you can't be the real deal.

Yea Heeltoe is a great vendor! I will definitely be buying from them again and I highly recommend them! Thanks Heeltoe!

Rockstar-I thought about wrapping the frame I had, but like you said nothing beats the real thing! I kinda wish there were more carbon fiber parts available. I love the stuff!

Well, I have some boring updates for you guys!

First is the strut bar and license plate frame are on. I was only able to get a picture of the strut bar since I'm sure none of you have never seen one installed before! I did try to get a picture of the frame but the car was so dirty from all the sand and salt on the roads that you couldn't even see it, should have snapped one before I left

IMG-20130110-00010 by WDPUA7, on Flickr

And second is mileage update! She's at 111,561 km's. I've been getting pretty steady mileage. It hop's back and forth from 7 L/100km to 8 L/100km.

Another update! I installed triton 6k switchbacks today and they are awesome! Super bright! I got some red wedssport open ended lugs and locks and I've also bought the RDX caliper covers. I'm not sure if I should paint them white to match my brembo's or just leave them black. I'm kinda leaning towards leaving them black so that it doesn't draw to much attention to them. What do you guys think!?
