Sorry to dig up an old topic but was getting caught on reading this thread up and saw this. This is not the case. I did my lenses on my DD Celica almost three years ago using a high grade urethane clear (not rattle can SHIT) and they are perfect with zero maintenance. I sprayed them with zero orange peal. Anyone that knows how to paint can avoid orange peal..especially on such small parts.

See below. The lens is horribly dirty but you should get the point. This is sanded with 600 grit, then 1000, then sprayed with adhesion promoter, then with PPG DelFleet Clear. The rest of the car has a generic clear made by Valspar on it.

Wow, nicely done! I haven't touched my headlights since I cleaned them last and they are doing fine. I don't really know how to properly paint, especially on car parts, so I would be afraid I would mess up something.

Ive been painting for almost 15 years. As a matte of fact, I bought the pictured Celica totaled out and put a front cap and a roof on it and have driven the hell out of it since then. 268,000 miles and counting!!

The difference is probably in the method of application. My friend did his CL headlights using clear from a spray can and the cutoff of the headlights was slightly distorted. I dont think he wetsanded it though.

Spray can clear sucks hairy donkey balls. You have to use a catalyzed 2 part clear. There is no comparison with rattle can shit.

Wow, I actually had to go to Page 2 of the Photograph Gallery to find mah thread. I think that's a first

I met up with local member AcuraTL06spd to take some pictures and such. I'll post the pictures of his car first. Listed below are his specs:

XXR 527, 17x8.25, +25
235/45/17
TEIN S-Tech springs

le photos...

I really suck at panning

He has a lot more planned for the car, including getting coils to fix the reversed rake, but he just had a son so his priorities have changed a bit. I don't blame him!

Now some of my car

Like always, nothing fancy. I did edit the pictures but all I have is iPhoto so I can't really do much

Those are the ONLY rolling shots of my car that I have and they aren't even that great

I'll be hitting 124k miles soon, I've been driving a lot this month which I wasn't planning on. The TL is doing well other than the static from the stock amp on every input. It's driving me crazy but I can't justify, nor afford, a new one.

I've had the same problem when I bought the car a year ago. The static is getting worse and it's driving me crazy. How much is a new factory amp? Would that fix the problem?

I agree with Anil as well, 18's make the car look SO much better. 17's are just too small.

Other than that, cars look great

Thanks Anil! I wish you posted more pictures of your car

He and I both talked about the 17s and he racks up A LOT of miles which is why he opted for 17s. Looking back on it he wishes he would have found some 19s but he's just starting to mod the car so he has plenty of time to step his game up

Supposdley there is a resistor in the stock amp that has tendencies to go out, giving the nasty static sound you hear. Mine always gets worse when it's cold outside as well

Factory amp is $400ish

Do you know why that's significant though? That's where the Raleigh meet was in March! That's the courtyard area between the two buildings, in front of the parking deck we were on top of.

Well I would love some F14's but there are too many DB's on here with those

/Kidding

I would get mine in matte or glossy black or orange or green... Pretty much any color besides graphite

Graphite?! You hoo-uh! Our wheels are gunmetal! The best color!

I think some black or orange wheels on your car would be sic

Get black wheels and paint your calipers orange (if they're not already )

I love the CF5's they make.

But since you have Imola's (if you really love that wheel) I think the CF10 would look stunning
