Breezy's TL-S Progress Thread

Got into my first Acura back in 2013. I usually changed cars every 1-1.5 years but held onto my 05 Base TL for 3+ years. It was just too nice of a car to move on from...

I didn't really do much to it since I bought it. I told myself I was going to stay out of the modded scene for awhile but I eventually added some spacers, wheels, LED interior Lights, HID Fogs, LED Rear Turn Bulbs, Dipped Grill. I had purchased an Intake, Tein SA Coilovers, and EDFC but before they even arrived at my house my transmission said enough was enough at 196K miles.

Here is how it sat before the trans went.

Here is how it sits now:

I was pretty bummed out since it was such a nice car and I just bought a house so money is a little tight right now and didn't know what route to go. Do I get a truck, do I get another Base TL 6MT if I can find one, or do I look for something completely different. Surfing the forums, craigslist, carsDOTcom, only to come up empty on all inquiries.

Just when I was gonna give up looking every TL-S known to man showed up in the Black Market. After a few texts/calls/pm's with some of the fellow members I was able to narrow it down to a select few. After getting my ducks in a row I was able to pull the trigger and am now the proud new owner of this 2007 Acura TL-S, KBP, 6MT. After talking with the owner, Quanaman, for a few weeks to get all my questions answered, pictures of the car, surfing the progress thread, I knew I was getting a solid car and had zero concerns about the performance of the vehicle. My father and I flew out this past weekend and drove her home 13 hours, 850 miles, with zero issues. Other than almost getting hit 2 times, sitting in construction, waiting to get around accidents, annoyed that my dad drives the speed limit or 2-3 below, and seeing the beautiful hills of Maryland/Pennsylvania, the drive was fantastic! Kind of wish I was able to snap a few pics. I guess I will just have to make a road trip out there in the future!

Enough with the story lets see this beauty! Here she is after her first bath Sunday morning.

I couldn't stand the sunken wheels so instantly I put on my 15/20 spacers I had laying around.

Before:

After:

I do have a DC CAI, Tein SA Coilovers, and Tein EDFC to put on but I think I am going to wait until next spring to put the coilovers on so winter, in 2.5 months, doesn't eat them up to bad. I would like to enjoy the stock ride height for a little bit. That is the plan but we will see if I can patiently wait that long.

All in all I am very happy with the car and can't wait to drive this car everywhere! Thanks Quanaman for picking us up at the airport and hope you enjoy your new Accord!

congrats on the new upgrade!! always nice to see a car stay within the forum community!

i don't know how you guys sit on mods...i usually stay up til about 3 am on work nights installing the parts that i got that day haha. the edfc and the tein coilovers will be a great upgrade in terms of looks and handling. if it's the edfc active version, let me know if you have any questions setting it up (you can also refer to my install DIY thread " https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-t...review-923959/ ")

No wonder you ignored my comment in Ramblings...lmao...I was right.
Something about your secrecy and the timing of closing the deal on Monday when I knew Quadrat had only taken a deposit thus far.
Good guess!

Congrats Breeze...she's a beaut. Oddly enough, this was the weekend mine found a new home too...and to another AZ member too!

can't wait to see what you do to her!

Thanks guys, I am very happy I decided to go thru with this and can't wait to make it my own. Before any performance mods go on, it is going in for a Baseline Dyno to gather some numbers!

Was never a fan of gold wheels. I do have Chromium Black XXR 530's I can interchange from week to week. I like the Waffles though, they are growing on me!

Use the waffles for winter wheels and the 530's as a summer wheel. That's what I do. Congrats on the unicorn!

I don't know if parting my old TL was such a great idea especially when I have the TL-S now... I had intentions to put the money from the part-out towards the loan on the car but I just keep buying parts.

In Transit:
-Purge Control Solenoid Valve
-Red Stripe Tails
-KP Tech Window Module

Parts waiting to go on:
-Tein Street Advance
-DC Sports CAI (May change out for an AEM V2 if the DC has clearance issues)
-SPC Rear Upper Camber Arms
-CT Short Shifter
-A-Spec Side Skirts (Need to get them painted)
-LED DRL Kit

Wish list:
-Shifter Bushings
-Full Exhaust
-P2R TB Spacer
-Weighted Shift Knob

If any of you guys have recommendations for my "Wish List" items, please share. I am undecided as to what brands I will be going with. The "Mod Bug" is real... Every time I drive the car it makes me want to pull the trigger on everything at once!

tb spacer is worthless, put that money towards the best shift knob out there...raceseng!!
but really the tb spacer is worthless unless you like something pretty in your engine bay.

my exhaust vote is xlr8 but if you want something a little cheaper and possibly a little more drone, go with endless, i hear good things about it.

for shifter bushings we only have one option, the hybrid racing ones from heeltoe. they are good

Sockr1 knows

Just an FYI, if you're swapping tails, you shouldnt have to remove the bumper. There was one screw that is covered up by the bumper and you need to remove the bumper to access it.

I removed said screw when I was installing the rear lip. This way, you can swap tails without having to take off the bumper.

Mod list looks good!!!! Maven knob gets my vote, and the ATLP V2. I love the look of the tips on those.

After doing more research on the TB spacer, I feel I will pass on that and like you said put it towards something more useful. I would like to have the steering wheel redone as well. Feels too skinny!

I did, and after driving my GF's Jeep Grand Cherokee around here and there I absolutely love the feel of the bigger wheel. Hard to drive on the OEM wheel thickness after that for a few hours! Can you give me a diameter of your wheel so I can compare to what her JGC is?

my wheel is the same as oem but with 1/8" padding around the entire wheel...so add 1/4" to the diameter/thickness of the oem wheel.
there is a huge night and day difference between mine and the oem one. when i sold my "extra" bare oem wheel on ebay, it felt so skinny i was embarrassed haha

Quanaman expressed that the "Tighten Fuel Cap" notification was happening to this car before I bought it. On the way home it happened and was happening all week so far. It was annoying, almost like the Navi nag screen, so I ordered a new Purge Control Solenoid Valve and so far so good. Took about 10-15 minutes to install. Hopefully this cures that notification! This one was made in JAPAN, as I have read the Mexico ones seem to fail.

Next on the list to get done is get my A-spec Sides painted. Also, I ordered some Hybrid Racing Shifter Bushings from Heeltoe. Should be here in a couple weeks, not bashing them in anyway but what a slow process they have for the impatient person I am. I do like their notification emails letting you know what state your order is in though.

No updates just yet but does anyone have any recommendations for a TPMS set of 4. I have some wheels I would like to throw on without getting the error... Wish you could deactivate that completely without creating errors.

if you have severe OCD and dont like seeing the light on the dash then take cluster out and black electrical tape the bulb

It really only took 3-4 mins, but the rest included letting the motor cool slightly (could have cooked an omlet on the manifold), having to restock the mini fridge in the garage, make a sammich, and find my 90* needle nose.

I think I will just run the wheels without for awhile til I get annoyed. So it will probably only last a week or 2!

I'd probably push for Advans...

I mean, at least shipping would be in teh US and A!
Dude, I'll cut you a deal you can't pass up!

I swear, when I think about the money I put into that set with tires, center caps etc...I'm like, fuck I'm an idiot. I could probably dismount and sell tires for something and still get what I want for the wheels.

dont winter drive it man. yikes..

And J, i paid 2k CAD for my advans, no caps, some rash on all the wheels, same tires as you.

Your asking price is nearly 3k canadian. Which is probably worth it since that extra grand is what ill have to spend to get mine refinished and get centre caps.
