Another Plasti-Dip grill thread. Pics of my '08 CBP Type S
With some free time and a can of Plasti-Dip laying around I figured what the heck. I can give it a shot and if I dont like it peel it off. Im not really a fan of blacking everything out, but I have seen a few guys do a real nice tasteful job with plasti-dip on the grill which doesnt over do it, but looks like it could have come stock this way.
So the first few pics I did just the chrome cross bar. It looked good, but something about the black with the gray plastic surround just didnt seem right. So I did it again, but the second time I did the gray portion as well. I think I like it, the finished product turned out perfectly smooth and like I said before, I think it could have come from the factory this way. Not too much black, but just enough to change it up a little bit.
What do you guys think? Leave it for now, or peel that shit off? I will give it a few days and see how I feel.
Taping off JUST the chrome bar. I know that Plasti-Dip oversprays like crazy so I basically covered the entire car. I didnt want to have to clay bar my car again.

Finished product of just the cross bar dipped. Here you can see the difference between the dark gray and black, and I felt it kind of clashed.

Another pic of just the middle bar dipped

Taping to do the gray part as well

Finished product of both the crossbar and lower gray piece dipped

Nice work. I did only the middle bar at first too, and realized i didn't like the gray lower part not matching, so I then did that part as well. I really like the look, its gotta be one of the best $6 mods out there.

When I did mine I had the bumper off so I took the whole grill assembly apart and painted the pieces. I left the chrome outer ring alone and the A. Similiar to yours except I had mine all in pieces when I sprayed it.
Looks good. Now just black out the bars in your headlights and the lower grille. lol.

I noticed this thread got brought back up. Since I have done this mod having that chrome cross bar black never grew on me. I ended up peeling that part off. I did however leave the gray plastic lower portion plasti dipped and it looks pretty good. Since its black now it matches the rest of the front trim/headlights/grill nicely compared to it being gray stock.

Go with this..
