If you feel you must remove UR, just like the install- remove cover plate of trans flex plate/flywheel- the plate with the teeth gears on the outer edge-
stick a prybar in there and tell friend to hold on tight!

Pretty much this is the way. M/T customers can actually stick it in 6th gear and then have someone press the brakes hard. Sometimes that is enough. On an A/T you will have to find the service port and hold the flex plate in place in order to loosen the bolt. Or find a good impact gun to loosen the bolt. Sometimes a 1/2" drive isn't enough so you might need a 3/4" drive.

No it improves hp/tq throughout the entire RPM range.

It moves the torque band slightly to the left- giving a feel of stronger pull- especially in midrange IMO

Who would have thought!- Using the right tool for the job would be the easy solution~

Did you do it yourself?
Is it simply one nut... swap the pulley... put the belts back on... torque up the bolt. Is it that easy? I want to do this mod.

if you have the hex tool... it is that easy... if you don't, lmfao good luck

you need a small breaker bar so that it can hold the tool... then you use a big breaker bar... I tried using an extension and it snapped in half... so I used a bigger breaker bar and just muscled it.... popped it right off

dude....it looks like you have SOME basic knowledge on cars, but there's alot you probably should read before you post. - this car has been around 4 years, anything you're looking for can be found in search.

and if you read this thread (ONLY 3 pages), you will realize we're only talking about 1 crank pulley and two different versions. 1 for non-supercharged/600+W sound systems, and one for em.

there is a pulley set offered for this car... there is only a crank pulley nothing else

as prior post mentions there is a stock sized lightweight crank or an underdrive lightweight crank

good luck on your modding

Anyone know what socket is used on the crank bolt? And also, how much shorter is the new belt we need than stock. I bought the pulley, but forgot aboutthe belt. Is it one size smaller?

^^Yeah well, it turned out that their labor rate was actually $68 and not the 60 they said over the phone. And it ended up taking them two hours, so grand total after tax was like 148. Not to mention, the mechanic got my car filthy inside. Plus, there was dirt all over the VSA button, so he evidently was out hot rodding it. I swear, every time I get an inspection or whatever, the guys purposely drag their filthy boots over the threshold and against the door. Anyway, I'm never going back to that place for anything. And the car doesn't even feel any different. Maybe I just have a dull butt dyno.

not to like get you angry or anything but $148... IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY

the tool cost me $25 shipped, toll and gas to drive to my boys shop was like another $15... oh and the cost for using his lift and tools... $25 which I paid off by letting him keep the tool... so that was $40 total for me if that... not to mention it was a learning experience

Oh well, you win some and lose some. 2 hrs @68 plus tax. Over the phone they said 1-1.5 hrs. I suppose I could've done it with the help of a friend but didn't want to deal with the hassle.

The cheapest I found for the belt is on Amazon.com

It's $24.93 and you get free shipping on orders over $25.

The trick is to add the belt into your cart, then search "Laurey Au Natural Wood Mushroom 1-1/4-Inch Diameter Knob #33401" and add the 66 cent knob into your cart to get free shipping.

jsl138 - thx for the tip. NAPA wanted to charge $40. Got them to drop it to $30 but it's still $5 cheaper thru Amazon. Can't wait to put on the pulley and reap the benefits.

Cheapest I found the belt without going to the internet was $27 from a trucker parts company.

I might have to go to a trucker shop as well, because I'm having a hard time finding a shop with a 3/4 inch impact wrench handy. Everyone has 1/2 inch and that's it.

Ok so i've read through most of this thread and tried to get whats goin on here. Im trying to learn myself a lil something so bear with me. Ok soo... if i get this "pulley" from UR which is the crank shaft pulley, it is a mod that will make my tl faster? .... sounds great.

Now, as i kept reading..... i noticed something that kinda threw me off. Accessories.... and how replacing this pulley may effect my accessories.... or something like this...

Now... i have a stereo system in my car that is way above 1000w.

Can someone please clarify if doing this mod will effect my stereo system.... even though i know that there is a seperate pulley for "accessories".. i just wanted to make sure and clarify

Second request.. please specify which pulley i need and what else ill need if im going to do this mod...

Please dont bang me for this, just tryin to get the right and full info....

Thanks

There's two size pulleys, stock and underdrive.

Based on your audio setup you'll need to stay with the stock size.

The underdrive is supposed to achieve a little more power by underdriving the accessories.

Good right up

I did this "blip" method on my 93 Taurus SHO more then once, but instead of putting the wrench to the ground (like on the mspaint diagram) I used a 2x4 for the socket wrench to pry against, cranked it, and success.

Of course this is a Yamaha motor not Honda, but same principle.
