TL Engine Swap

TL Engine Swap
I have a 2004 Acura tl with many problems and i dont want to go into detail on this but i was wondering what engines would fit in the 04 Tl besides the 3.2 liter that would fit all the bolts and engine mount and everything? would a 3.5 liter from the newer tl work? Also let me know what other engines will fit?

I'm pretty sure no other engine is going to be just "drop in"
Nothing will be plug and play including 07-08 engines
Even if there was any engine that would "fit" it wouldn't have the same ECU. It becomes a lot more complicated and more of a headache
Youre probably better off fixing what you've got or going with a hsed TL engine.

Poor Nick has a ton of problems with his TL.
With all the issues you've faced I would just get a good used engine identical to what you have.
Even within the 3G years, 04 and 05 are different in some ways to the 06 and the 07-08 are even more different. Unless you spend the time to map out all of the specifics, you'll be in for even more headaches than you have already.

Well VIET if you dont like 17 year olds with TL's dont comment on my da** feed and also we have narrowed it down that before i bought the TL they overheated it. So since then more and more problems have been occuring and the problem is most likely with the cylinder and the heads which could be a big bill and were not sure if thats the only thing either. Yesterday all 6 cylinders misfired and so we have decided to find a used 04 TL engine and install it. Also for real if you dont like 17 year olds dont post sh** on my feed!

i kno i am a newbie and all, but i ve been researching alot as well. And safest way to go is find your year for the engine. Best look online for engines, and always run the vin number just in case.. ppl can say it has 30xx miles bt honestly it could have 233,xxx. Just a heads up, cause it happened to my father already.

Good read I know that if I owned this car when I was 17 I would have jacked it up good. Luckily I owned a '77 Camaro. Old school technology is harder to ruin. You gotta be careful with this new stuff.......

LOL Does the TL like 18 year olds? Just bought one but I know better than to buy a family sedan and try to race it and make it 300hp, it's fast enough, my car is faster than my S10 so I'm happy with that.

Glad you asked
Nick I'm glad you asked that question..I sure there are other that have wondered the same time. I have an 04 manual that finally died after 300K. And I surely was thinking the same thing. Wondering how hard would it be to put the Typs S 3.5 engine in my car. Now thanks to you I know it's not a good fit. I will have to do some other mods to get more power.
