The Track Terror
Do they have them on hand usually or did they have to make them specially for you? And if you don't mind what was the cost? I have f1 spec carbon Kevlar seats from my race civic already...
#407
The Track Terror
Fantastic! Do I need to specify what type of seats I have or will they fit any? I have Bride Gias replicas...
Edit: looks like they fit 'em!

wow that is amazing. sucks to see all the luxury gone but nice to see a TL on a track. hope you get to eliminate as much weight as possible. you will definitely be the underdog on the track.

^^^ Rockstar, I have to admit on this one....I love what Inaccurate and Villie are doing here....
I want to reduce like 300-400 pounds just by removing stuff which I dont use any more....they have taken the car to the extend....but I am thinking of putting my TL on a tasteful diet....so I have the luxury and am sitting 350 odd lbs lighter....this plan will start off from next year
the amazing documentation from Inaccurate and Villie have made it easy for me....I know what spots am hitting right away
I will be making sure I dont get carried away and end up taking off everything my car has to offer as this is my DD....you need to know what your doing to your car....if your gonna ONLY track it then by all means pop the headlights off....but if its your daily driver then only remove the stuff which you dont need/use on a daily basis....

Just thought I'd post this up here quick to show that there is a method to my madness! Wasn't able to make this event but this is my old race team with the car I help build/fab. Final event for the year and it couldn't have gone better. 1st place both days with a TT track record!
Next year, who knows... could be the Elegant Aggressor doing that!

that's one skinny bit*h!!!
swoosh, I'm sure you'll set out with the best of intentions...but guess what...when you feel how differently the car drives with every 100 pounds you take off the car, your brain will eventually start going in circles and you'll realize that your "needs and wants" in this car don't matter as much as making it lighter and lighter. I hear that the next set up inaccurate is going to run won't even have wheels on the car...madness I tell you.
Seriously though...took my 75-100 pounds of sound system equipment out of the car and I swear I felt a slight difference already. I quickly put it back in though so I would get "sick"

Safety Car
There is a lot of wisdom/truth in the post above.
Removing weight is very addictive if you crave performance (braking, handling, acceleration). Literarily and no joking, I often find myself being unaware of anything around (not while driving although) because I am thinking so intensely about what I could possibly remove next from my car to get my next "junkie fix".
It is also true about not removing anything, even temporarily. Because once you get a taste of it (with that item gone), there will be no turning back. I tried this similar psychology, in reverse, on myself with my nitrous project. I would make myself keep the empty nitrous bottle in the car so that I would gradually get use to carrying that extra weight around. Nope. The trick didn't work. The addiction is too strong to be fooled by such a cheap ploy.

Am not saying take the aspec kit off or the wing spoiler....they weight what 10 odd pounds ? rather drive with 1/2 a tank of gas, 1/2 filled windshield washer fluid and you loose 20-25 pounds right there....
Instead of 19" rims, go down to 17" with lightweight tires....you will loose easy 80-100 pounds there....
See you just lost ~150 pounds without losing anything
Now it gets tricky....any more weight will be tricky....
what I have thought it lightweight seats (12 lbs compared to 40-45 lbs) x 2....then lightweight steering couple pounds there....prolly a CF hood....
You will loose another 100-150 pounds here....
So without losing anything asthetically you have lost 300-350 pounds....this makes you .3 seconds quicker than a similarly modded TL

do you want a sound system in your car....I say yes (I have couple weight reduction techniques, not ready to reveal yet but I will eventually....
you will say "not really" and hence take the full thing out....
lightweight rims/brakes, we both say "yay"
no aspec kit...I say nooo, I want....you say I rather be faster
so its a basic thing of what you want....I dont wanna remove my rear seats even thow they have been used very rarely or my all season floor mats or trunk area....but I dont mind taking my spare off....
the problem is the weight reduction bug hit me kinda late....I just invested a lot in a bloody true dual LOL...but I dont think the difference would be more than 10-15 lbs as the full setup is same other than the down pipe....

Hmmm...you both have valid points...
but no way in heck is my sound system coming out of my car! I love how it sounds and the car feels pretty godo with acceleration as is!
If the TL ever becomes my second car...I could see fully commiting to a diet. I don't want a lighter version of the diet cause I'll still be losing some things that I enjoy very much.

I recommend the comptech supercharger. It will make your TL even faster than it already is. Even though the unit is fairly heavy, the amount of power it makes will supercede the extra weight.

He'll be spinning his wheels like he's on ice. Honestly.. I don't think boost is the way to go for his featherweight track car.

I'm not saying there aren't good applications of a FWD FI track car, it's just another can of worms Vill will have to deal with to get things right. It might become a bigger money pit than he's willing to accept. Unless we're talking sponsors..
#437
I'm guessing your main concern is the aluminum getting worn much faster than the stock one, but with the car having lost 1/3rd its weight I dont really see how you're ever gonna wear the clutch/flywheel with only 2/3rd of the effort it was designed for, it should last significantly longer that on the stock car.
#438
I never had any issues with them, didn't get one for the tl yet as my clutch will probably be due in about 15k miles or so I will probably get one then.

It'd be insane but me either, always been more of an NA guy anyways lol
you never know......
I meant the ones for the TL itself haven't really been proven to be reliable at all. I have hope but not taking the chance just yet. If you know about the stock flywheel/clutch setup, you'll know why they're so difficult to make correctly...such a goofy design.

Edit: did read about people having the aftermarket ones too so... not sure if its just an old saying that kept going on or if theyr still unrelyable.
