Jeremy, aint that true....

if I were a professional, I would get and use a rotary....but am plenty happy with the DA PC...I take my sweet time with the process and take multiple breaks anyway....

Chris, I still dont know who that is....but i do understand the reference now LOL

That is a great value kit BUTT I would get the 6.5" pads if that is possible....7.5" will be tooo big to finish some smaller areas....

Honestly, I'd just jump on that and then add to cart a 3" backing plate and an orange and a white 3" pad. That's what I use to do the heads/tails I buff out.

you mean a 3" backing with a 4" pad?

That actually is awesome for side skirts and trunk lip...but if thats the only one you are going with, its gonna take forever to finish the car....

just because I took my own sweet time and played with the baby many times in between, 2.5 days....the first day I just washed and clayed her and left it at that....

the next day I did step 1 (slight correction)...the next day I did the jewelers polish and sealant....

if not for the many and long breaks, a day to day and half should be all it should take....

No, maybe it's a 3" backing plate and 3.5" pad...semantics. My comment was aimed at your suggestion to get a 6.5 to be able to do smaller areas. My suggestion is keep the 7.5 for the big areas and full details and get a totally separate setup for your smaller projects.

Its because you have been eyeing the other car LOL...

well when you clay, you are down to clear coat....even if you dont have any imperfections, I would use some non abrasive polish with a polishing pad and follow that by a sealant on a black/white pad....

Wax come off relatively quick, so if you wax on clear coat, rest assured you will do more damage than good

use a sealant, you wont be disappointed....

yeah the reason I said is there will ALWAYS be some overhang (pad > backing plate)....and yes I agree, 6.5 or 7.5" pad for the big areas and a 4" pad for smaller areas....

Firstly, I've got all the overhang you need.
Secondly, if I slap my 3" pad on my 6" backing plate, that won't be true.
Thirdly, you told twig not to buy the 7.5" kit and go with the 6.5 instead to be able to use it for smaller jobs. How in the heck can I be right but you still not be wrong

LOL...

I usually go with the Blackfire Wet Diamond Sealant....but Steven kept talking about the Wolfgang Sealant so thought I would give it a shot...I did get time to only do the hood, front fender(s) and bumper and had to go back inside and take care of the baby

I might get some time today so hopefully I will finish the car....

So far am very happy with the Wolfgangs sealant, make the paint feel sooo damn smooth....when apply with Hand, it takes a lot more elbow grease to take it off, but with a DA, its simple and easy to put it down and take it off...

Claying also introduces marring/swirls on its own, so it's a good idea to at least do a single pass polish in between claying and waxing.

I personally prefer a 5.5" pad for my section passes. I have a 3" backing plate and pads for smaller areas. I find that using the 5.5" vs even a 6.5" pad allows for quicker correction and less section passes. I have the Griots Garage DA which is more powerful than the PC too, so I would think that using a 7.5" with the PC would be too much for it.

Your car looks great though, and so do the pictures. That's one thing that I have never been good at - taking before and after pictures of my work.

This is about as good as I can do.

That 50-50 shot looks awesome Justin....

Thanks for the complement....and I didnt know claying introduces swirls....hmm

I dont clay very often...I just keep her clean and keep throwing wax/quick detailers/sealants on her(not all of those at the same time but depending on the condition of the car and time on hand)....

I usually dont take pix during working on the car as well hence I have never been able to make a DIY....I get into a trance and take a break when I finish....but with the kid, I have been taking a lot of breaks....I like running inside every now and then and checking up on him and the wifey, so I kept taking pix everytime I took a break LOL....

and about the pads, I misspoke completely....what I wanted to say was, if you buy a 5.5" or a 6.5" pad kit, that will be the only kit you need....but if you get the 7.5" then you will need a 4" kit since 7.5" will not be comfortable in smaller areas....

I can get them locally here at Performance Auto Spa.

I'll have to re-up my Griot's lineup this spring. Most of what I bought last time lasted me almost two years.

I went through the leather rejuvenator quick though as I use it on my shoes, belts, etc. Lol

Lol. I just venture out to a lot of different forums.

The GGv3 RO are great units. They are the most powerful, best pad system, most comfortable, and won't vibrate your hand numb like a PC will. But the build quality could be better.

As mentioned though the lifetime warranty is awesome.

If you have an older PC then I'd go GG. If you already have a 7424XP just keep it.

am going to see if they sell GG locally...if so, I might pull the trigger and sell my 7424XP locally

If not, then I agree 7424XP is definitely good enough for the work I do on my car....

http://www.autopia.org is good too.

I have an applescript that when ran opens up all my forums main pages. Right now it's at 13 different sites. Lol

I only troll here and two others frequently though. With AZ being home base.

but the AAP I go to, the guy hooks up me up crazy deals....last go around, he gave me ~25-30% off on the GG gallons of Speed shine and Spray wax....

I might hit him up and see if he can do the same for online orders
