Chad/Feji....I just remembered that RB says not to install shims when installing the pads...did you guys install the shims? I did not and I dont get any squeaking/noise coming from the brakes....

Robert, a minivan is shinning in our future....very near future at that too LOL...

buttt we are thinking of replacing the wifey's car with either a nice 5 seater SUV or a bigger sedan....I want to get a TESLA but the way I want it, is creeping over our budget....

She loves the BMW X5....other options are RDX/MDX/Q5/X3/SRX....for the sedans we were thinking A6/BMW 5/TESLA/older RL (boosted) /Lexus GS/

Lets see what we decide with....for the minivan, I set the budget of 20-22K because I want that to be my "i dont care, its a minivan" car....so an Oddy 2008-2009 with higher mileage is what am gonna target....

Matt, hell yeah thats a SICK RDX....here is a side profile of it

Dont get a minivan. Get a Ford Flex. It has just as much room (more room than our Expedition by far) and functionality BUT it (with the awd ecoboost v6) can run in the mid high 12s for about 1500 bucks. If you havent already, go take one for a drive. It will surprise you Its what im looking at getting the wife to replace our Expedition.

I didn't install shims when I did it the first time and had noise. When I painted my brembos and installed the RDX covers I put the shims back in. No noise.

I actually wasn't kidding...the pads I bought from Autozone had built in shims on the back. I couldn't remember whether or not that's what they're called...the flat things that go on the back?

Matt...

Robert, I felt the same way....not sure how much power/boost the transmission can hold since its the same 5speed tranny

fsttyms1 (Sean, right?), I havent driven one, but I have sat in one and you sir are correct, they have a TON of room...but for me/family accessing the rear seat is very important....well lets see what happens....I really want my garage to be like NSX/RDX or MDX and Tesla S

well this is what was done in the past couple days:
Got 25mm spacers upfront and back....After a long debate with myself I decided to get it...with help from Jeremy and Tyler, I decided on the Akata one...got the 25mm in the mail and they were a little dinged up....been talking with Akata and I hope he does right by me....

Sean was going to plastic dip his car so I thought might as well get my rims done....I sanded the rims down and prep them and dropped them off....he did a great job

I also installed the RDX covers front and rear....and bleed the brakes with ATE Racing super blue...

I raised the car up about 3/4 of an inch for the winter....will bring her back down around summer time....

Some pix

So that's plastidip on the wheels? Did you have him weigh before/after?!?
Seriously though, the car looks VERY driveable and gorgeous as it stands right now. Great choice on spacers for the look of the car and thanks for the shout, man.

Fixed

Getting into the 2nd and 3rd row is a breeze. We are looking at one and 2 of our kids are in car seats, 2 are 16/18 so they would get the 3rd row but they didnt complain (rented one for a weekend to see how we all fit). Seriously go take one for a spin. Try it out. It will surprise you

I think he likely wanted to smooth out the imperfections/chips/curbing of his previously rushed paint job.

But why go through that for PD when all it's going to do is make it a pain to come off later? Would it not be best to do that when you remove the dip before putting something permanent on there?

I do see the curbage though now that you mention it.

Poor stockies. Mine are a little rough too, Anil.

Yes, he was trying to sand off the actual paint from a job that he did a few years back. Then he did black plasti-dip over that, and this last time the black was peeled off and Sean sprayed it with the anthracite dip.

Be careful with the Odyssey's, they use the same crappy automatic as the J series accords ANDD our 3g TL's (Just some food for thought)

Yezzir, that is plastic dip...its the gunmetal or the Anthracite color...no sir didnt weigh them...I didnt even weigh the spacers, I was too afraid, I might change my mind about them...took me a while to make my mind up about them....

Thanks a ton for the complements and not a problem about the shout out, your advice did inspire me to get them

Yes sir....the past 2 paint jobs and 1 plastic dip job I did were RIDONKULOUS !!! So I wanted to sand down the imperfections before getting a great coat down by Sean...I did all the sanding on previous layers of paint, nothing on the OEM color....I am still hoping if I get a heavy enough paint stripper, I can get back to OEM color

Chad, Jeremy and Matt are correct....I have always painted the rims in a hurry....first time I was naive and didnt know any better...in the winter the ice messed the coat off....the 2nd go around, winter was around the corner and living in the apartment was not fun....so got a quick coat(s) the cover the chips which came off the first coat....

then a night before the national meet, I hit it with plastic dip with all intention to get it done right....my skill with a rattle can is same to a todlers skill with a cellphone....so I sanded down the previous imperfections and even after a full evening of sanding and preping, I was only able to get 60-70% of the imperfections off....but the rims were nice and smooth and Sean got a great coat on them....I like them

Thanks on the spacers....I debated them for a longgg time and I kick myself in the head now for waiting sooo long....

now I know when I get summer rims what offset rims I want/can run for the tire width I want....

Yeah, thats a bigggg risk which I forsee with Honda...but I am pretty sure they have the similar transmission like the 2007+ TL/TL-S's...I havent seen any of them fail....

If we get a Oddy, it will be 2008-2009+ both those years they were rated as the best Minivan....

I was joking with the wife about "another Indian couple in a Honda Odyssey" and she was like "yeah, F-that, lets not get it"....I was like "how about an Oddy on Air"...we will be the "hot Indian couple in a Honda oddy" hahaha....

Thanks a lot guys....I will be doing a nice shoot tomorrow....
