For those of you having problems getting the bolts off... How old is your car and how many miles? Would this be a significant factor on how easy the old jpipe would come off? I'm hoping I wont run into this problem as my car is an 08 tl-s with less than 30K miles on it.

I am going to try and make an instructional video while putting this on my type s as well as my aem cai. I will try to do these installs seperately so I can see the difference each mod will make. Also I will take you into the drivers seat of the "panty dropper" when all this gets installed and give you my opinion on both mods. Hopefully the vid will give Ritchie and RV6 a great DIY guide for the jpipe.
I was probably the one having the most trouble with the exhaust nuts. My car is an 05 with 97k miles and the exhaust had never been touched before. That probably had something to do with it.

For those of you who have installed headers on a 4 cylinder... I would imagine the jpipe install is leaps and bounds easier? Just because your working underneath the car only and dont have to work underneath the hood as well. Years ago I installed a header on an integra and man was that a pain in the butt. I needed a second person just to get the damn thing in place.

technically, this jpipe is not the "header"

the primary cat would be the so called "header"
if you plan to buy richies pre-cat deletes, you would have to go from hood to underneath just like your teggy install.

My car was originally drove in Baton Rouge and never had to deal with the salt and ice. I would imagine that would be a big plus as well. Please Please Please come off easily

I know I was just getting flashbacks of how crappy that was to install. However I would still think the pre cats would be easier than a header. Given the weight and shape of the precats.

Just installed this on Sunday and the bolts weren't too bad. I have 36,000 miles and no rust on anything. I just used the stock jack and got under there...dangerous? Sure. Lazy? Yup. With that said, do it the right way with jack stands and don't get killed by your car.

One thing though, I needed to unbolt the hanger bracket completely in order to get the stock pipe off. Don't know if that was mentioned but I could not remove the stock pipe without that. Other than that it was an easy install...

Quick review: it's quiet, too quiet...can't really even hear it over the AEM...I need an exhaust system next...Power seems up a bit too, but hard to tell. Quality looks great, glad to get all the hardware (bolts, nuts, washers, gaskets).

I bet this would compliment an exhaust system nicely...

I installed my jpipe and now it sounds funny in the pipe, not the exhaust tone but in the pipe it's weird. I also had pcd's and magnaflow custom cat back.

j-pipe increases HP and MPG. What about the "pre-cat delete" that some ppl installed what is it for?

So I broke off one of the studs that connects the stock jpipe to the third cat when installing PCD.

What a great reason to buy this jpipe... no more exhaust leak

increases HP and torque.
stock exhaust is pretty confined and limited.
start replacing pipes that are better flowing and you get moar power.

People claim no performance gains when doing exhaust stage 1 or 2... so my unknowledgable self would say no, not even close. Personally, the pcd + jpipe combo seems to be the most bang for the buck. Plus, I'd rather do those first, see how it sounds, then modify the exhaust accordingly. Instead of the other way around. My

I'm actually ready to make a purchase myself here, but how this is all being done is relatively confusing. Even for someone who has been keeping up on these threads the entire time.

What is actually in stock (jpipe, pcd) and what would I just be putting a deposit on and waiting an undetermined amount of time for?

I cant. A mod changed it.
there is a rule that you have to keep the avy for at least 6months....or else you get a vacation from azine.

you need to visit the website.
if its not in stock, it wont allow you to place the order.
then you can always call richie at 6303467998 to get the word directly from him

Those 2 mods are not comparable AT ALL. PCDs are the most aggressive and biggest gains of every mod besides forced induction. Mid muffler delete does absolutely nothing for power and just changes sound slightly.

deleting the mid muffler is a good mod if you want a slightly deeper exhaust tone but don't expect any performance upgrade out of it.

I have received mine monday and it's really a nice piece of art all the inner welds are grinded/smoothened for perfect flow...

I will get to the dyno before june and I'll do the following tests on my 26k miles/42k Km 100% stock 2008 (exept for A-Spec wheels) TL-S M6

stock vs AEM v2
stock vs RV6 J-pipe
stock vs RV6 J-pipe and AEM v2

All those tests will be done the same morning on the same dyno. I'm sure I'll make a lot of people happy with those numbers

^wow the type-s 6MT is a fucking beast.
I have a 3rd pedal as well but its a base...

I only wish I wanted a year.

you'll experience major gain.
I've gotten used to my jpipe as i had it for a year. I picked it up when it first came out in march.
I just bought the PCD's v3 and cant wait for it to get here.

I had a 2006 TL M6 before and yes there's a difference between the base and S. Will the PCD v3 have metal cats or just straight pipe? I use a metal cat on my turbo integra and the smell is not bad at all vs straight pipe...
