Replace Comptech mufflers with stock

Hey all,

I would like to get rid of the drone that my car has with the Comptech cat back exhaust. Would replacing the Comptech mufflers with stock ones do the trick or do I need the whole stock setup which I can't seem to find anywhere for trade.

Thanks
Rob

It is not so much the mufflers, it is the resonator that matters the most. If you replace the factory resonator or similar aftermarket resonator, this would go a long ways in eliminating the drone.

Here is some related reading material. The various resonators are discussed in-depth in the link below.

cant really do anything to change unless you sell your comptech and go with atlp or xlr8 quads.

also you wudnt want to hack up an expensive exhaust and then add after market tips to it...just not worth it

also just warning theres a huge difference between comptech and atlp/xlr8
i would say drone is at least 5 times more for the quads

you could always just add a resonater, and if it's still too loud for you just add a mid muffler.

JDOT, Get quad tips and weld them on...
OP, I would just get a stock exhaust, if you think the Comptech is loud you wont want anything. Sell the comptech and buy a used OEM exhaust.

Comptech is the 2nd quietest exhaust for the 3G TL. First being the Tanabe. The Comptech already has a mid muffler so I do not know how you would add another one... you could add a resonator but now you are adding more restriction and defeating the purpose of the exhaust. Plus...you are decreasing the value of your beautiful exhaust.

Sell it and go back to stock or look at the Tanabe. That would be my advice. I wish you were local or else I would've made you an offer on the Comptech.

I'll be patient. The drone is noticable enough to effect the listening quality of the DVD-A Hotel California tunes.
