Let's see your gauges!
not sure if there is already a thread on this, and if so...please direct me to it.
i just want to see where you turbo/SC/JnR ECU guys have your AFR gauges mounted on your 3G. i want to get an idea of where i should put mine.
i'm 90% leaning towards the side pillar next to the windshield, and having it wrapped in matching color (black/grey)
lets see some pics!

No, an aftermarket AFR gauge can *not* be connected to the oem wideband sensor.
Yes, you can monitor your AFR (via the oem O2 sensor) by using an ODBII scanner. But according to Rodney, this might not be an option if you have the JnR ecu. See links below -

Sorry to go off topic, but I don't get why you guys just don't petition Hondata to crack the TL ECU. The Acura/Keihin ECU is 100% flashable/programable through the OBD2 port and only needs the aftermarket support to open up it's function to the masses. The whole JRN ECU route seems over complicated, over expensive, and silly to me.
Hondata flashpro only costs $700 and uses all stock electronics & sensors. No wasting $2k on aftermarket junk.

either they are working on it or dont know how to crack the code
right now there is nothing other than MS3 ECU
in all honesty if the TL has been out since 2004 and people have been asking since then and still no product then I highly doubt there will be something...
now if someone has it in with hondata and can get more infromation from them then that would be great.. right now we only hear crickets chirping
JnR at one time was offering a cool oem looking A-Pillar mount. Please check out the JnR option too.

Back on topic, I put my boost and wideband on the A pillar. I have a new cover waiting to go on and I am planning on moving mine somewhere else. Seems to attract too much attention. Yes they're crooked in these pictures.

This is Rodney's pod

Hondata ran a couple of pilots, there may still be one or two running their modifications but for whatever reason, it died.

- The JnR ECU is $1400.
- Over complicated?! It's P-n-P. Do you read before you post? Or try products yourself before you pass judgement?
- As it is, it's the only option.
- Look at the results it's getting on just bolt on cars! Dollar/HP gained is pretty level with most mods.
- How the hell can you call someone else's hard, tedious work 'junk'. If you're so brilliant, why don't you figure it out and then sell it to us at a fraction of the cost like you think you'd be able to.
- Where the **** have you been? Petition Hondata? Hah, go waste your time man! Pretty sure people have been doing this for years!
On a side note, I have a buddy who has been tuning forever and is very deep in that crowd. He is SWEARING to me now that he can completely tune our cars without an additional ECU. Not sure how or via what but he swears it and he's never failed me. When I know more I'll start a thread. Pretty sure it has something to do with Hondata's TSX release...

Oh...wrong kind of gauges... :P
Edit: shameless plug just trying to liven up the thread. didn't mean to derail it earlier. sorry op

I've redone mine a couple of times to make it look perfect and so that the dinoc doesn't lift up in certain places because of the heat.

They've been 'petitioned' over and over.

Just search "Hondata" in thread titles and you'll get multiple results.
Here is where that picture came from:
today i installed an autometer shift light for my friend Scott or princelybug, as you might know him on the forum. he said he felt the need for it when he was tracking his car. "cant really take your eyes of the road" he said, this should help or assist him when shifting. oh yeah he kinda helped
the shift light gauge was installed in a modified S2K pillar pod, they don't make pods for the TL so i to Scott to get the S2K pod. it was close to our pillar. trimmed it down some used some heat to give it the correct shape of the TL pillar, then wrapped it in headliner material to give it that OEM look.
the gauge has a digital readout of the current rpm's, there are also a few other settings you could dial in. you could set and adjust the rpm shifting points to what ever you like when it reaches that rpm point the gauge lights up a pyramid of yellow lights, indicating when to shift to the next gear. wiring was straight forward, not difficult but time consuming. power, ground, and tach signal. our cars dont have and individual wire for the tachometer reading, rather a signal wire that goes to the gauge cluster with multiple info for the tach, speedo, fuel etc...
to remedy this we had to install a tach adapter to provide us with the correct tach signal readout, this adapter had to be wired in series to each of the six coils on the TL-S. this gave us the the individual tach signal.
overall the gauge light works perfectly
i think the install looks really clean and tasteful. but most of all i think it looks cool
here are some pics of the install
here is the shift light gauge in a modified S2K pod

mock up install unwrapped

wrapped pod

drilled a small hole in the a pillar for the wires

tach adapter

power signal for each of the six coils had to be cut to wire the adapter, to reverse this it just a simple matter of soldering and shrink tubing. its only a small wire don't be scared.

crimped connectors for power side and coil side of the wire

coils wired in series to the tach adapter

small push button switch for power to the gauge light

i used some epoxy to mount the pod to the a pillar, looks pretty OEMish to me

outside view of the pod

comments welcome

Gauge: Auto Meter Sport Comp Digital Pro Shift Light Gauge (3387)
Pod: Auto Meter S2000 A-Pillar Gauge Pod (20444)
This mod was specifically for my benefit at the track. I'm pretty confident that I'm not only the 1st, but the ONE AND ONLY 3G TL Type-S with this mod!

Props go out to Jaime (jptl04). Yes, there was a thread made already for this here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/first-autometer-shift-light-install-mt-tl-s-pics-740222/, but this is my thread!
