Question Obdii scanners advice

I would like to get inputs on scanners model/specs, I never used a scanner before and I need one that can record all O2 voltage values to tune my AEM FIC and also monitor knock/ignition retard if any occurs... If possible one that could connect to a laptop. Thanks for your help!

PM Libert69. He has the following:

http://www.autoenginuity.com/product...ware.html#EI08

It shows the ability to see all ECU parms including the knock adv/retard data.

http://www.autoenginuity.com/Honda-A...tems-List.html

I'm also not sure about the Honda HDS/HIM. I would think that would extract that data as well. bmeyer has this unit and may be able to help you. He also has a lot of knowledge about the o2 skew function of the F/IC that he could possibly assist with.

How the software interprets it and give it to you is unknown to me. I don't have either so I can only give info that I can read.

Autoenginuity was never able to get this functionality to work for Bert.

Thanks for the link! Ok but if the actual knock retard is not available can we see the actual timing? If the timing goes down from time to time at x load/???? rpm i'll know that there's knock retard at that point. And from the link you gave me, does they are all plug and play for a 3G TL?

The dash dyno is very nice. If you want something to watch while driving it's about as good as it gets. If you just want to reset codes and look at data logging once in a while it can be had for much cheaper at obd2.com which uses your laptop to do the logging.

This is the same company that makes the DashDyno. The link above is their interface that allows you to read from a laptop versus having the DashDyno.

Yes, it does show real-time timing. But, it is impossible to detect retard by looking for a dip. The timing is always jumping around even under the most ideal conditions. The ecu is always tweaking and re-adjusting the timing based on many variables. So, the timing is never a smooth line where you would be able to see a dip from retard.

In the link for the scanners, I would *think* that all are plug and play for our car. Our car is a OBD-II (also called OBD2) interface. All scanners that I have seen are OBD2 compatible.
