J32a3 question

This winter, once i get my secondary running, I am planning to pull the engine out of my '04 tl. Doing an ovet haul/rebuild, the question i have is has anyone seen heard or done a bore out on this block to a 3.5L. In other words can that j32 block handle the pressure going from a 3.2 to a 3.5. Thanks for replies and info in advance

The usual path from 3.2 to 3.5 involves parts swapping vs machining....

Are you wanting to swap the block for a J35 block? Or are you wanting to use a J35 crank in a J32 block? Or, are you wanting to bore a J32 the needed amount to create a 3.5L motor? I'd say that the block probably can't handle a 4mm overbore. I'll double check the FSM to be sure though.

THe J32 and J35 have the same bore - the stroke is where the added displacement comes from. Even the J37 bore is only 1mm more than the J32.

The reboring service limit is .25mm so 89.25mm - not gonna get enough to make it anywhere close to 3.5L which would need 93mm

Before you even consider changing the motor up, are you going to be able to tune it? Is there something wrong with the motor that you plan to pull it out?

Buy a j37 crank and rod and make it a j36 with the j32 block. Use rl piston.

Yes i can tune it. Im doing this to clean up the engine and since im pulling it apart anyeays i figure i can put more power in it. Just not sure which way to go with thats why im asking. Swapping parts seems like a good start. Thanks
