J-pipe without gaskets?

Whats the worst that could happen if a jpipe is installed without the gaskets for the motor? I have the larger ones for the race pipe, but Im missing the other two.

It will leak and sound like crap. Just use high temp gasket sealer on it. The same type you use to seal a differential.

Yep Permatex Hi-Temp silicone.... there are different types, buy the one in the gold tube, works great! $6 fix, works perfectly. Inspect it after a couple years, it should hold up.

If you really torque-down the bolts, I don't know that any exhaust gases would leak?

Your missing the point. When it heats up and cools down, the contact points will change dramatically. You need to seal it with a gasket, or liquid gasket.

best way to tell is look for black residue... without a gasket it will leak... and even with gaskets after awhile the gaskets blow out... I'd use the gasket maker from the getgo

You can go ahead and do what you want but there is a right and wrong way to do things. Just get the gasket.

I used it on my RV6 v3 J-Pipe and my V3 PCDs.

I've only had my PCDs for less than a week, and my J-pipe for almost a month now. So far so good, no exhaust leaks.

Permatex ultra copper yo

Gaskets are $39 from heeltoe..
Shipping is $31 for Priority
Or $45 Express mail...
Plus I live in Canada so customs decides to get their share too sometimes...
So I'm looking at $70-85+duties
Permatex is <$10 lol... That's why I'm asking how other ppl who have used it is holding up
