Gains from high flow cats?

ive been reading endlessly about exhaust mods. i purchased a pair of type-s cats to install on my base tl. i read the install notes tonight, i am trying to see if the gains are worth the hassle for me.

my tl is my dd. i always toy with my cars, but i am really trying to limit myself on this one. i am primarly after mileage gains from the exhaust mods, what hp can i expect to see held back/gained roughly with this combo in your opinions?

base tl
fujita cai
atlp v1 j-pipe
3rd cat delete
comptech catback

oh man wow. let me get out there right now and start wrenching

i did find that someone estimated pre-cat deletes at 25 rwhp gain? so an oem high flow cat, is probably around 10 whp?

Stock Tl-S primary cats are 600 cell as oppose to the 900 cell cats on your base TL. I wouldn't expect a big gain from that. Your probably about right at 10 whp.

I havent installed the high flow cats on my car yet. Your going to make a more horsepower with the higher flowing cats though because they arent as restrictive. These cars respond very well to exhaust mods. It's tough to say what TL-S cats will do in terms of increasing WHP. A few members have installed e-shift procats that yielded some decent gains. Exhaust is a great place to start on these cars. If you've worked with mustangs then you already know about the imprtance of having some back pressure in the exhaust system. Same deal here, exhaust mods work great as long as you don't get too radical with them.

thanks for the response. yea, i am not going for the biggest stuff i can throw on. my primary concerns are in this order; mileage potential, noise control, and performance gains.

i'm just trying to research the exhaust stuff thoroughly before i install it all. do you recall a ballpark on the gains from the e-shift hfc? i have been trying to search, and coming up empty.

i did see references to the e-shift stuff as e-shit though haha.

I just got done reading some posts from people that arent big fans of e-shifts pro cats. The biggest concern with them seems to be that they don't last very long in super charged applications. Naturally aspirated is a different story. Advertised gains are around 20 WHP, but I'm a bit skeptical about that. The dyno doesnt lie. 15 whp I think is a safe guess. If you have a set of Type-S cats, I'd throw them on as long as they are in good working order.

alright, ill bite and install them. i am good with my hands, i just don't want to get in the habit of tearing apart this car. i guess thats what my issue is here, this needs to be my "comfortable" car i don't need to lay under for hours on end.

one last question here..

anyone have any sound clips of a base tl with atlp j-pipe, 3rd cat delete and high flow cats? is there ANY chance of this being raspy/obnoxious?

otherwise its all stock exhaust wise.

Their shouldn't be any rasp, if any, very unnoticeable. (With the J-pipe/3rd Cat, Could be wrong because of the HFC)

Nonetheless, RV6 V3 J-pipe has the most gains for the J-pipe/3rd cat delete combo.

i got a smokin deal for an atlp v1 pipe with 3rd cat delete my car won't be lowered much if any, so the few hp difference isint worth the drastic price difference.

I'm tempted to do this mod too, but I don't think it works out economically. I figure the cats are about $600 and install about $300. So $900 for about 10 hp? For me, it is not worth it. The j-pipe probably gives the same gain at less than half the price. But if you want max performance, this is probably yields a solid gain.
