engine is too quiet!

This may sound weird, but I find that my recently purchased '06 TL 6sp. is hard to drive when I've got the windows up as the engine is so quiet I don't know when to shift without always looking at the tach. With every other car I've ever owned I could hear the engine but not this one, unless the windows are open forget it. As we live in Florida, in the summer we often have the windows up and the A/C on. I wasn't planning on doing major mods, but what could I do to make the engine slightly louder without being obnoxous sounding? Of course, any performance increase would be a bonus. Thanks.

wow, I've haven't hear a person with this issue yet.... You could remove the under-hood mat, that might make it a little louder. As well you could get rid of the engine covers, that might help a little bit.

For a bit more, exhaust first since that'll change the note a bit more. the intake changes the note above 3k...

Agree with all above. Also, consider doing the Mid Muffler Delete (see link below).

CAI and Stage 3 Exhaust .. or.. Full Catback Exhaust will solve your problem. And yeah I have to agree with CsMeance.. I have yet to see this complaint in all the time on azine.. LoL.

I had the same issue with my GS350 when it was new. Lexus makes an extremely quiet car. I added an exhaust and dropped the car to get more feel. I have been think of ditching the exhaust and doing the intake because the droning is getting old

Don't worry, it's a good thing your car is quite. If it was making some weird noise, then you should be concerned. Otherwise, get a few mods and hear that puppy roar!

if you want, you can do an axle-back exhaust or do intake (you'll really like it)

how can the intake help? it only makes sound when you floor it.....u could easily accelerate gradually all the way to 7000k without a sound from the intake...sounds like the guy gradually accelerates and doesnt realize he's going up in rev range before he shifts again...

the only easiest way is by how the car feels when u blip the throttle...u dont need sound just so u know when to shift...

if the car feels that it will go without struggle if u just slightly push the gas pedal, u just give it a push, and throw in the next gear...if it struggles....downshift....its that simple.... all it takes is "FEEL"

nothing more!!!
