With enough time and money you can put a NASCAR V-8 in your TL.

BTW - I don't think the trans is the same.

^^+1 or do a j35, j36, j37 stroker motor built. since i know tl-s hold their value pretty darn well so it would be cheaper to do stroker motor build than trade in ur tl and buy a tl-s. plus 3rd gen tl engine stroked makes more hp then tl-s stock, u get forged internals(more reliable for F/I applications),Port and polished everything, tune etc.
all it takes is about $4200-5k for a stroker motor since u got a 3rd gen tl

whatever way u choose is good. goodluck bud

Just to add to the maddness. The transmissions are not the same. The sensor locations, and plugs are mostly the same though. If you are serious about doing this, i can let you know exactly what needs to be modified.

There is no such thing as an '06 TL-S.

It's not same thing. Whether it was created in 06 or not, considered a 07. Almost like talking about the 2008 TL and the 2009 TL, there not the same thing.

A little back ground of what i am using right now. i have a 97 honda prelude running the J35A8 setup out of a 07 type s tl. I am using a 08 Type s 6speed transmission on auto motor. With a Auto harness, and a 06 3.2 ecu. The 06-08 ecu is self learning. So i have run the 3.2 on my 3.5 motor safley so far.

The best option for 04-05 . Run the the motor and trans out of the type s. use your current ecu, to use the type s ecu you would need to change much of the interior harness. There are a few differences in sensors. The type s o2 sensors, and most of the sensors on the intake manifold are different (just the plugs). Use the sensors for what wiring harness you use. Use the type s injectors. And best case scenario, get a aem fic and you will be able to fine tune the engine.
