This has been ask numerous of times so it not off topic; just in the wrong section.

Anyway, you seem to have answer your first question; now for the second, I believe now they come in ceramic coating. You should go with those and if they don't, get them coated. However you don't need to but it helps to safe guard your parts against rust, corrosion, dings, etc.

what?

OP, if you dont want a smell, get the High flow cats.
ceramic coating is not necessary, I didnt coat mine.
the coating is probably negilable, meaning there might or might not be gains to it.

only thing that would prevent me from getting the pcd is the raspy sound but they have resonators to fix that.

Do PCD and keep a high flow 3rd cat on the car to eliminate smell. Get them coated for sure. I wish I got my HFPC coated just because it looks like crap now.

You have to look at you goals, if you only want to upgrade hfc or pcd then go with hfc because if you get just pcd your car will sound like straight shit “TBH” so if you’re getting pcd you have to get the true dual exhaust also. I have it and it sounds amazing I know it’s kind of expensive but it’s worth every penny!

as thisaznboi88 said, get PCD and a high flow cat to reduce the smelly you're worried about but I would say there is no need for it to get coated at all.

I have pcds and a highflow cat where the third cat use to be. Totally worth it. No more smell, less exhaust noise and more of a purring sound.

The first few weeks of running catless my exhaust sounded like a rattling chain link fence mixed with an angry and distressed cow. It's pure sin.

Givin time tho is has mellowed out and gotten a lot deeper and more aggressive. I personally love it. All i have is the OEM resonator and the rear mufflers.

Something to note, I used to smell the dirty (speedboat/marina) exhaust so much that I would actually turn the car off while waiting in driv-thru. It's been a year now since installation and I no longer smell it, or anything at all.

PCD's on there own do NOT produce ANY rasp!

I have Cai, v3 PCD's , 2.5" cat back = 0 rasp.

I had Cai, v3 PCD's , v3 rv6 j-pipe , stock exhaust = lots of rasp.

As long as you have a 3rd cat in place for the j-pipe there is 0 rasp with PCD's .

sounds like you just got used to everything lol

and definitely get cats, all the cars i've ran without cats have always left the exhaust with a thick black coat of residue, along with the back bumper and trunk lid, given there is a difference between 1000cc injectors on a turbo motor vs oem fuel injection still I'd run cats just to keep things clean

not if you wash and take care of your car.

I wash my car every week and am running catless.
my bumper is as clean as a whistle.
the exhaust tips do get a little brown, but at the end of the week, they get cleaned up.

if you take care of your car, by washing it on a regular basis, it's easier to clean than leaving the caked on exhaust soot for periods of time.

so, wash your car.

unless your boosted or SC. You will never see crazy temp. EGT aren't in the 1000's to melt the cores.

I couldn't tell, my car is black lol. I wash my car every week, but I swear to god the exhaust sounds different from now compared to a year ago.
The exhaust used to noticeable change pitch at 3k rpms. Now it changes pitch at 3.4k rpms. Probably carbon buildup.

Exactly!

I put a ceramic coated DC Sport header on my old 4th gen Accord. Before putting it on, my cooling fan would run up to 15 minutes after turning off my car if it was above 80 or so. After installing the header, the cooling fan only came on one single time after turning it off the following 5 years I owned the car. And it was after driving in rush hour on a 105 degree day...and the fan only ran 30 seconds or so.
