Batterys for S/C guys

Looks like its about time for me to replace my battery. Optima no longer makes the small honda/acura sized battery that we need. What kind of battery are all you other S/C guys running? I wanna make sure I pick something good if im gonna go thru all the hassle of removing part of the charger.

I was looking at getting a Kinetik battery. Anyone else running one or something similar? If so whats your opinion on it. TIA

I had an Optima battery and it crapped out on me after 6 months. I talked to rep. for Optima and he said they were having lots of problems with 51R, so they stopped making them. I swapped it out with an Acura brand battery and haven't had a problem yet.

i have a die hard battery, it's alright for now but since i didn't get a battery tray i'm going to reloacate my battery to the trunk, i installed the supercharger last night with 2 of my friends, it took us like 9 hours to install, it's all ghettofied right now and I had to call acura road side assitance cause the car was leaking engine coolant everywhere, and it's at the dealership right now, so best bet would be to relocate the battery to the trunk and get it concealed and use optima red top's if your going to be using subs and such, hope this helps..

I went with an Odyssey:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178324

I was able to fit in a PC1200. It's a great battery. I searched for a gel mat battery as I don't like the acid and fumes. If you don't want to mess with the additional size, a PC925 will fit without any modification to the tray. Just stand the battery on the edge and it'll work fine.

Hi ComptechUA6,

Still running on the Interstate MT-51R, close to 30,000 miles and still cranking.

That Kinetik battery has some awesome specs but it is pricey, about double the cost verses the MT-51R. still it may be worth it in the long run, imagine trying to connect a set of jumper cables in the middle of the night... Saw some on eBay for $160 w/$25 shipping. Don't know if thats a good price, if you find it lower, could you let me know, When mine finally dies, this might just be the way to go.

As for getting the old battery out, I know what you mean... I wanted to see what it would take to get it out too... at least taking the S/C intake and throttle body off was easier than the whole S/C. Might have been able to get away with just taking the air box off and wiggling it out but my hands and eyes aren't what they used to be and I didn't want to short the battery on anything metal ( Big Sparks in the sky, OK, in the engine bay, No No).

Good luck and let me know how you get yours out if you don't mind.

The other option it relocation of your battery to the trunk.

BTW - pulling the blower isn't as hard as you think.

I picked up the Kinetik today. It fits like a glove. I'll post my opinions after I test it out. The SC wasn't too hard to pull out.

Hey 03TL_5

Just remember to charge it up every now and then or the Delphi might be dead when you nee it the most. Frankly, I would just carry one of those Jumpstater Units with a air compressor built in... They are lighter, taller but thinner so it fits in the driver side cutout in the trunk and if you get a low tire....

Some carry a gel cell battery so no leakage issue. Plus when you need to charge it some of them let you charge from the light socket while your driving as well as from a wall plug. just my

You can try and put up for sale on the Acurazine "Black Market" section or here in Cali, we have a free listing service called Craig's List, you may have it in FL or something like it. Good Luck
