Another exhaust thread

So I've had my 07 TLS for a little over a year and I am finally ready to do some exhaust upgrades. I've done research since owning the car, I know I want to start slow with an intake resonator delete, mid muffler delete and replace the resonator with a dynomax 24215. My only question is should I spend $400 on a j-pipe or is it not worth my time and money. Looking for sound not performance, it's a 3,500lb V6 sedan, I could care less about hp gains of 5-10. Any experiences with sticking with the stock j-pipe and just doing a test pipe? Sorry for yet another exhaust thread but hey, at least I know what I want. Appreciate all the help I can get.

Well if you aren't interested in performance at all and only want sound then I would not recommend j-pipe. You can get so much more sound for much less money elsewhere. As you said intake res delete, muffler delete, resonator replace or delete. Start with that stuff. The Jpipe adds some sound, good sound, but at a relatively high price.

But it also kind of depends on if you want it to sound just loud or good or both because deleting the cats (which is what some j-pipes do) might be necessary to achieve the sound you want.

I want good sound not too loud. I'll probably start without a j pipe and work from there. Curious how a test pipe and stock j pipe would sound though .

Mid-muffler delete!

Awesome sound, no parts needed other than a straight piece of pipe.

A shop can install for $60.

Example from YouTube

Even if you say you don't care about performance, the midrange bump in power (without any more noise) makes the car more enjoyable to drive especially if you have an automatic. Good idea replacing the factory resonator with the Dynomax instead of just removing it and putting in a straight piece of pipe. I did that and while at start up and full throttle it sounded great, part throttle it was really raspy in the midrange.

Just to give you an idea what it will sound like (and as I said, the j-pipe added very little, if any change in sound) with the Dynomax resonator and muffler delete...I do have the AEM intake so that does add some sound. Excuse the overactive traction control, should have turned it off.
