air silencer removed

Thought i would start a new thread on this.I am new to sight and just got my 06 TL.I removed the silencer yesterday and also added a k+n cone filter I had in my garage.I just removed the lid and put the filter right on the rubber hose coming off the throttle body.I will try and Gtech this set up today and see if I have gotten any improvement 0 to 60.I find my Gtech very accurate. The best I have gotten is 6.62 with my TL so far with my Gtech.

Please let us know on any performance changes, ive done this with an AEM Dryflow and honestly because of so many people warning of heat soak etc i think my car felt slower as i was convinced it would be, but it could have been psychological and it was probably just as fast or slow as it was before i did anything to it lol

Keep us posted!!!

I have modded a lot of cars in the past and you have to Gtech to see what you realy got.Does any body know if you can get a timing advance on theys cars.I have been a nissan guy for years and have just switched to Acura.

Tuning the TL is a PITA. The only thing that works (not sure entirely since there is scare info on it) is the AEM F/IC. Take a look in the turbo thread for some info on the tuning portion.

Also welcome to acurazine, and congrats on the TL!

just did a Gtech and got a 6.59.the best I have got before was 6.62 so I quess the silencer removal is good for a few tenths.I am going to get a drop in k+n and put the air box back together and give that a try.I told my girl friend I was not going to mess with this car but can not help it.My two nissans I had before this I got a little carried away with.

A few hundreths is at the noise level. It's well within the error range of the gtech. In other words, it's meaningless.

You absolutely don't want to advance the timing, these cars already have a tendency to ping even on premium. If anything I wish I could pull some of my timing.

You mean a few hundredths? With that small of a change I wouldnt attribute it to the intake mod. There are WAY too many variables that come to play with cars and modding them.
