lol Thanks Zeta. Got lucky that it doesn’t leak any oil. All fluids were topped off. New brakes, rotors and tires. Wheels are in good shape, 2 are perfect. But the cabin filter was gross!

I found the work card of the previous owner and hit him up about the car. Weird? Yes. Didn’t care. The interior was carefully kept, no pets or smoking. Carfax was clean.

though the driver seat was not good. But the guy said he bought an oem replacement and got rear ended just before he changed it. He’s willing to sell it to me for $270. He lives nearby. Sounded like a decent enough deal.

Nice!
When doing the seat cover replacement process either pick up a good hog ring pliers & clips or use plenty of strong cable ties to keep all your 'refitting' hard work secured in place.

I replaced my driver side seat cover in March of this year.
It was a struggle; however, I'm happy with the result. My original OEM seat looked much like yours above.

No perforated leather, unfortunately.

In the car, the color was a pretty good match.

Those seats look good! I’ll get the Hog pliers and clips for this job.

Comptech S/C looks great! My brother is installing my old Comptech S/C into his CBP Type-S. He’s doing all the supporting mods before we install it. He’s owned that TL for 9 years now!

Had to drive back to California to buy it back from the guy that came up last year. Funny, I also bought the Comptech exhaust that was for sale in the black market the same day I was there. the exhaust was on the same road as the Comptech guy. 8 minutes from on another and I met them both at their workplace.

Went to the Fast and Fueious house to take a pick with the S/C.

How is yup your 2G TL 6MT doing?

Acura TL Builder, If you google the Honda of America shifter part # 54130-S0K-951ZA , you can find it for sale ($118.53 before shipping), on a Honda OEM Japanese part website if you want to purchase another. They must be 'in stock' because the website states 'Ship in 7 days (approx)'.

Thanks Zeta! I’m going to take that video down. When I searched There was nothing available, perhaps I should use a more powerful search engine next time.

Quick question on this thread (sorry I don't have time to read/search all 144 pages):

Is there an economical turbo or supercharger kit for J35A3 available? It's for daily driver but I don't mind deleting my AC or flashing my ECU. Would prefer that style with the pulley and shaft across the engine rather than redoing the whole front end with a giant intercooler. Of course I'm open to whatever it takes. Thanks

The OP on the thread below had a Rotrex S/C'er kit put on his J32A2 2G CL-S six speed.
As you can see it requires the fitment of a front intercooler.
CLS6 rotrex supercharged dyno - AcuraZine - Acura Enthusiast Community

If you can find a seller with an older complete CT-E S/C'er kit (very rare) for the 2G CL/TL, you could put that on the 01-02 MDX J35A3 engine; however, the M62 blower was really intended for a 3.2 displacement J32A2 motor.

In terms of it all (S/C'er or turbocharger) being 'economical'?
There is an oft used saying that sums up going 'forced induction': If you want to play, you gotta pay.

I misspoke, I have J32A3 (not 35) so maybe I will look for that Comptech SC kit second hand. If I recall, they retired a couple years back.

If you find a used CT-E S/C'er kit, you have to make sure that it is specifically made for your 3G TL.

There is a difference between the CT-E S/C'er kits made for the 2G CL/TL and the 3G TL's, so beware.

In fact, if you read through the first few pages of this thread that is what was found when @Acura TL Builder initially purchased, from some meth head, a used 2G S/C'er unit & learned subsequently that it was incorrect for his 04 TL, lol.

From what I can remember the 3g snout is 19” and the 2g is 21” or 23”.

Hey bud! Just took the cars out last weekend. They run so well!!

April 26 is first club track day. Hoping for no rain. Either way I will be instructing through HPDE program. This is how I get free track days.

I have 90 gallons of E85, good track tires and brakes/rotors so I’m set for this year.

On the KBP daily, I removed the RV6 PCDs and installed type-S oem cats. Put new engine/tranny mounts and will be installing new inner/outer tie rods. After that it’s fully maintained and functional.

The M90 TL seems to have a bad innovative mounts rear engine mount. Will check that out this weekend.

I’ll be uploading YouTube videos about this this weekend about this. Tune in!

How have you been?

These were my worst set of headlights, so I tackled them first. Car is greasy and dirty in the pic.

To refinish them I used Amazon sandpaper grits: 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000, 3000.

Headlight didn’t turn out as good because it was worse to begin with and I didn’t use the 400 grit enough. You could hardly see through then before doing this. Will post a video of the process on YouTube.

Really changes the look of the car. Even on cars the eyes are the windows to the soul.

Last Friday I came home from work to randomly inspect the daily KBP cheap tires that came with the car. I quickly noticed that both front tires were cracking along the length of the sidewall. As I usually would do I hopped onto the Costco website to get a replacement set. I saw the price for a $60 discount, but at $827 for a set of premium Michelins, thought there was a better way.

Remembering that I have two other sets of Type-S waffle wheels with tires on them, I used cooper zeons off of the MRP Type-S, as that car is not driven.

Had a set of premium non-oem inner/outer tie rods for the Daily KBP and replaced them along with the tires. Man what’s a difference!!

The KBP dives so smooth and straight now. No more wheels independently turning into road grooves and such.

This car has come a long way since I won it at auction against folks in Mexico for $4300. Viva La KBP!

After completing tie Rod maintenance, I took the car for a test drive. Noticed this WDP 5AT ASPEC hanging out. Good photo Op. Long live the 3G TL!

My brothers 2012 4g TL needs a new timing belt/water pump oil pump reseal, front main seal. He’s going to Kosovo for a year so I thought the us would be a good time to maintain his car. He’s thinking of getting a 6MT Type-S 3G upon his return.

It has 172k miles, but he idled it for about a year so it really has about 250k. He’s on the original belt.

He came by yesterday so we could begin the work and it sounded like it was in pain. You know the YouTube videos you watch of very low sprung retainer springs? Imagine it’s so bad you can fully compress with your hands.

The belt was so loose it nearly skipped a tooth every revolution. More than an inch of play. I’ll post a video later.

Currently 65% of the way through the procedure. I’ll post pics on Saturday.

May everyones Jseries live a long life!
