Not worth the problems and head aches that could arise. you have to change the ECU/ wiring harness/ transmission+ linkage for 6spd. I would trade it in as well!

Poor guy...
Look at his mod list. No wonder he wants to tranny swap, it would probably be easier than gutting all those other mods to prep the car for trade in.

I've yet to figure out why folks put all those high performance mods on an automatic slushbox.

I am in the exact boat as you are. I wish I got the 6sp also. But after seeing a 6sp on the dyno this weekend with the same amount mods as I have, he is only putting 19more whp and 10 ftlbs of trq. That amount of power is not worth the 5k that it would cost to swap or trade it in.

yeah.. man.. though my car had a bad day.. 19-27 more hp and 10-15 more torque not worth a swap.. maybe a trade in though..

Hey it was the weather. It was 75* in there. Ill take it though, you probably paid the same amount for your car as I did, and you have a faster one. I cant wait to see what I put down after the remanufactured tranny and more efficient torque converter. It comes with better bushings, bearings, steel plates, new clutches and flex bands.

I hear you there. We really cant go too much higher cause of the high compression we have. Now if you really want to get more boost have some low compression pistons made, stroke it out and you will get a nice amount of power there.

You will need:

-6MT Comptech ACM
-6MT alternator bracket for the S/C
-Clutch linkage and pedal
-Stock ECU for 6MT
-6MT transmission
-Shifter and boot
-Wiring harnesses

I'm sure it can be done with a little work and ingenuity. (and of course some dollars)!

I thought that the comptech supercharger was the same for the 6MT and 5AT. Why would you need to get a new ACM and alternator bracket?

You Dont! The kit is exactly the same for 5AT and 6MT. nothing to change as far as S/C!

Some people have nothing better to do with their money.

And there could be a hard time selling a car with all those mods as they tell a potential buyer that the car was likely 'DRIVEN'

By the time you decide that the only practical way to do it is to trade in your 5AT for a 6MT, you'll probably ask yourself -- why don't i just get a 6MT RWD car .. like a G35 or 330ci .. etc.. plenty of aftermarket support for both those cars.

Doesn't sound so crazy. I occassionally suffer the same wish when I'm in dead stop and go traffic for long periods of time or when I read the highway MPG 5ATers in this forum get. I'm tired of only 25-26MPG at 75-80 MPH when I see 5AT's are getting 30+. The window stickers on the '04's claimed the 6MT's at 2 more MPG highway than the automatic, NOT 2-4 TIMES THE OTHER WAY AROUND as its turned out.

On the flip side, the girlfriend can't drive a stick so she can't borrow it.

I have a 6MT and I get 34 running 70, so I am not sure what you are doing but it will get better then 30. All the 5AT owners I know don't get better then 28 on highway. I have to people in the office with me that have 5AT's. I wouldn't trade my 6MT for anything!! Unless it was a very close ratio 7MT!!! Things to come I guess!!!

I already have 15,000 miles on the car and I don't have a lead foot.

And I wouldn't trade my 6MT for a 5AT either ........

DMZ's not lying... I drive 82 miles/day round trip at about 70 mph (with a little traffic here and there), and my MID is showing 26, 28, 25, 27 MPG on the last 4 tanks.
I'm at 3500 miles, and am really hoping the engine is just breaking in... cause the milage is sucking right now.

My mileage has never unsucked with this car compared to most MPG posts I've read.

Should get better. Anything longer than 15min on the freeway and my average is above 30mpg
