Whats your average stereo volume?

What does everyone usually have their volume set at, for the most part?

I'm usually at 20-22 when the windows are up...
and 25 and up when the windows are down.

also depends on the music too, DVD-A is so rich that i probably never go past 14 unless all my windows are down.

at times I'll bump it up past 22 when situation calls for it. Wow I see a lot of +25 I must still have decent hearing or something.

I guess I'm the old one here... I keep it at 2-5 daily driving with the windows up, 8 max with the windows down.

JCL, give those DVD Audio discs a try at high level too. I always hear something from the music I've never heard before. Take from a guy who's been a disc jockey for 31 years now.

15-25 with the occasional 30 stock.

1-10 aftermarket. Very rarely 15 but that's about as much as I can stand for a short burst.

LOL. I used to always turn mine to 13 on accident and when I noticed it I turned it to 12 or 14. I thought I was the only weird one.

hehe hi steve

the only real reason i ever turn up the volume is because I can't hear everything, granted the louder it gets the more distortion becomes an issue and also at what bitrate the file was recorded on.

anyway, i'm perfectly content with 12-15 as the max volume and i keep it at the range on the DVD-A's because I can already hear the separate sections (i.e. i can pick apart from the sound being generated the bass guitar, the keyboard, the drums, the vocals - i think that's the high point of the DVD-A )

does anyone know if the Batman Begins sound track will ever be released as a DVD-A? i think that would be one helluva great track to throw in the car.

I'm like csmeance I keep mine turned down to about 5 or maybe up to 10 sometimes . Most times because people try to talk to me while i'm driving even through the good songs , like "Train Train" .

By myself usually 17-18, but with people in the car, 5. Some DVD-A discs force me to turn it up to 25 just to hear it. The separation of channels keeps it from getting too loud I guess.

Generally about 7 to 10 (windows up; I seldom open them), but as others have noted certain material can require a higher volume. The DTS recording of the Eagles' Hell Freezes Over is basically inaudible below about 15.

The nice thing in the TL is that driving at highway speed doesn't generate enough noise to require turning it up higher. I was driving Ms1995hoo's RSX last weekend and I immediately noted how much louder it is at 70 mph than the TL.

5-7 with windows up. 17-24 with windows down. Any higher and I'm afraid something will pop

On another note, I do realize that when I'm sitting in my car just listening to music, not driving, It's around 15 or so. Having a gutted interior adds a good amount of road noise that drowns out the speakers.

I'm usually 8-12, depending on street roads or freeway. Sometimes I go 5 on street roads and going slow. Windows down, I'll turn it up a bit more. I can't stand the stock system over 20/25, the sound isn't clean to me and it bugs. Eventually I'll change 'em out.

Buddy, it's always like a holiday when I stumble on a new DVD Audio release-which are VERY few and far between. Heck, I was floored when LOVE from The Beatles came out in DVD Audio. The best option you'll probably have is downloading the software from Acurazine that will separate your regular CD's into a 5.1 mix.
