Switchback LED + Locking/Unlocking parking light flash

Hey AZ,

Minor issue. Not a big deal tbh, but it would be nice to know why.

So I recently installed switchback LED and whenever I use the fob to lock/unlock the car, my parking signal/turn signal lights do not light up consistently anymore. The only way I can get it to flash is if I press the lock/unlock button rapidly then it will flash but it would do so after all of my other lights have flashed.

Could it be the fact that switchbacks for our car just don't let it flash when unlocking/locking?

Guess the drivers inside the bulbs takes some time to start working, and single flash is not long enough.

Turn the lights on with the knob, does switchback have delay before turning on compared to the other lights?

From what I noticed, there is no delay whatsoever when turning on the rest of the lights. Could it be just a coincidence the switchbacks I got were crappy?

If there is no delay when turning them on with the knob then they should work fine when using the remote. I mean if they light up as soon as they get power then it doesn't matter if they got power because you turn headlights on or pressed button on the remote.

Just to clarify - if you press the remote other lights blink just fine (buttons inside the car, side markers, tail lights) but front switchbacks don't. Right? Or all of the lights don't blink?

Maybe you got a crappy ones. Hard to tell. Three years ago I've got $20 switchbacks from Amazon for my car and they still work fine.

Yep. Everything else besides the switchbacks light up. Heck, now when I press the button rapidly, the switchback would light up. But it would light up not even 1 millisecond in or only one side flashes (but switchback still works fine as it should).

The car for some reason came with this LED flasher from Diode Dynamics, so no resistors were installed (no hyperflash whatsoever).

Could it be because the LED flasher relay is causing this?

Technically turn signals and side markers are separate circuits. Even without the flasher relay, side markers should work, so load resistors / custom flasher relays / etc. shouldn't affect how "white portion" of the switchback functions.

7443 bulb can be plugged two ways. It shouldn't matter for better designed bulbs but if they cheaped out and didn't use diode bridge then bulbs might not function properly. Try to rotate them 180*.

Otherwise I don't know why bulbs wouldn't light up only when using remote.

i guess that's assuming the load resistors were installed on the right circuit

In my case, no such resistord were even used. I found out my car came with LED relay flashers installed so I just did a simple swap of bulbs.

Second URL shows that switchbacks work how they are intended (I am getting cleared headlights so dont mind the amber piece for now)

Hey sorry I lied actually. There is a good solid delay before the parking lights on the switchbacks came on versus my other lights. But turning them off, they went off the same time. But however, only my passenger-side flashes now versus my driver-side. Before both flashed, albeit delayed and only if I pressed the remote rapidly.

Then there's nothing that you can really do. If you got Prime get some from Amazon that offer free returns.

I had same problem with early batch of new tritons switchbacks and ended up returning them.
