Subwooferbox size

does it matter how deep the box is as long as the driver fits. I made a pretty shallow box while being a little wider to get the exact 1.0 cf of internal volume. does it have any affect on sound with the magnet being pretty close to the back of the box but not touching at all, its maybe a 1/2 " off.

Not a hill of beans, unless the manufacture recomends something specific. I have seen a couple of times years ago, some specs like your asking about. More times than not,..Not an issue at all,...

depending on the driver..some of those subwoofers do require a bit of space between the back of the driver and the enclosure...what driver are you using?

Its a boston G5 12" and its calling for 1cf exact. i asked around if i should make a bigger box and nobody really recommended going against the specs. im gonna feed it with the alpine pdx 600.1. Looking for sound quality for the most. there is about maybe 3/4" the most behind it.

with a boston driver you'll be ok...build to your hearts content...if you don't like it...hell...it was just a $30 sheet of MDF...lol...

lemme know how it works out..best of luck!!!

u have to have a little space from the back of the magent to the wall its there to cool the coil. theres a hole there for a reason....if the box is slightly smaller u can add dacron or fiberglass insulation inside the box to make it bigger.... yea i know it sounds odd but thats the truth.

make sure you internally brace your walls of the enclosure, I can only imagine how long and rectangular the enclosure may be. With a G5 you might get some big air pressure and then your mdf would certainly need some extra bracing to prevent reverb.

How would you brace the box? L brackets? What kind of hardware would I need? I have a 12" Alpine Type R sub (500 watts RMS, dual voice coil) that I want to get a box for. I was thinking about an audio enhancers box, but I am not sure which brand to go with either.

The subwoofer is gonna fire trough the armrest while being totaly insolated from the trunk. i made the front panel a little bigger so i can attach it to the seat frame so it will be pretty strong. to get it to that point where u need bracing it doest sound good either way just stupidly loud

You should be fine, but truth be told, in most situations you are going to have to do a little trial and error to get the sound just as you want it.
