Do you guys think that would work even if you bought the XM unit after market?.... I was thinking about taking my friends XM unit off his hands and putting it in my 99 TL.

I'd try it, with the condition that you'll buy it if it works.

Thumbs up $77 still working

Worked for me without the code as well. Just mentioned receiving a letter and provided my radio code and the $77/year amount and the XM ee was happy to give me the deal (never asked for the code).
I wonder if they would've offered a better deal if I didn't mention the $77?

$77 offer -XM

Just letting you all know, I called the number today (May 10th) to ask about the $77 offer,,,My last subscription of the $60 a year special was up last November, at that time they sent me a bill for regular rate of $12 or $13 a month, I paid the first three month bill (around $44). Then after reading the posts on here today, I called the company, saying although I was currently paying this high rate, I had just received a letter in the mail of a special promotion for $77, he granted me this rate starting today 5-10-06 thru 5-10-07, but also said I owed $44 for usage from Feb thru May,,,,,after talking and begging a little with him, my total bill got down to $110. I'm happy!

Just ran the zwinback script, still working Thanks.

The operator also informed me that being a radio service subscriber that I have free access to XM Radio on my computer, any computer. Go to
www.listen.xmradio.com and select the XM Radio Online. You'll need your Radio ID, and enter some other info - name, email address, zip code and enter a password - and your listening to xm radio on your computer.

I didn't have time to run a search on this, so if it's already out there sorry!!

Enjoy

Just did the ZWINBACK script.

Still works...they didn't even ask for the code.

I told the guy that I had a promotional letter that I got in the mail that offered a year subscription for a one time fee...the guy then asked how much the flyer said the fee was. I just said $77 but after saying that I thought to myself that there may be other flyers out there for less than or more than $77. If someone is willing to try saying a different price you could save some money...who knows!

If someone does this and get it at a different price definately post it here!

Works great!

Works even now (5/11/06)...just called them, told them I got the flyer and would cancel the service if I payed more than other people and the funny part was, she asked "Are you sure or was this through a friend? " and giggled. She said "it's OK, you don't have to answer" and continued on with "enjoy this deal because it won't happend again next year." I think they all know y'all, and they don't care because they're not the ones getting ripped off, lol.

Thanks a whole bunch guys, we family now !!!

Exclamation

I noticed a few people on here who already got the free 3 months and a year @ $60 have been UNSUCCESSFUL at getting a 2nd renewal at $60/$77. We argued for a while and I just canceled service rather than pay $12/month.

Has anyone got it renewed twice at the discount rate???

a wild guess - you can get any price (not just $77)
you just need to lie with confidence!

called them the same day my radio turned off

me: i have the $77 promo
rep: how did you get it?
me: in mail
rep: was it from XM or from a dealer
me: from XM
rep: what's the code?
me: zwinback
rep: is that it???
me: yes!
rep: any digits?
me: no! just zwinback!
rep: thank you .... blah-blah-blah

here's the best part - i got charged $75.19
if that's supposed to be with tax than they substracted it instead of adding
my guess is by the time she was done interrogating me she forgot about 77 and charged me 70 instead
which means they - don't care what number to type in!
the codes don't verify and you can load the reps with as much BS as you want

After 7 failed attempts, I gave it another try and it worked today!
I had the $60 promotion before and they all gave me hard time before, asking me that besides the zwinback code I need some other code/number

It's amazing how easy it is IF YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. You can't just read a couple of posts and wing it.

Well, you can but then don't expect success.

In at least four different posts, I have explained that they need your radio code. They can't possibly activate your radio if they don't know its code! It similar to an electronic address.

The people who follow the instructions, read the "script", and call the right number are getting it on the first try. This includes people (like me) who had the $60 promotion previously, people who bought a used TL, and some people who are on their SECOND $77 deal.

Followed the script yesterday...didn't need to mention zwinback. However, sales lady sounded very skeptical that my radio ID actually appeared on the $77 promotion flyer. ("Are you SURE you got the promotion in the mail, and YOUR radio code appeared on that same flyer?")

More hold time. Then she finally agreed.

To me it sounds like they're on to us, and they're trained to ask for supervisor's permission if they doubt the authenticity of the offer/promotion. But they still want the sale so they'll usually ok it anyway.

Pretty cool while it works

The radio code isn't on the promotion. The only code that is on the promtion is "zwinback" Thats is all you have to say

"Hi im calling about the zwinback promotion i recieved in the mail"

That is it

Score!

I just renewed at $77.00 rate; I dialed the number that XPeditor posted and was redirected to a Porn number! I then called the number on the letter and asked for the deal; she gave me 800 892 5400 for "Special Promotions" and they hooked me up. I'm not hijacking XPeditor's information, just sharing.

I think you misdialed? Was it good porn? Maybe you hit the "Last Number Redial" button by mistake.

Anyone else have trouble with that number? I just called it (1-800-682-4114) and they answered: "XM Radio".

(But then she did ask me what I was wearing.) j/k

Thanks for reporting your experience.

Post Rolling out red carpet!

Nuri, mlopez, mrn970, Gbockers, (etc., etc.) ..... Just wanted to welcome you to Acurazine and to 3G TL forums.

There is all kinds of valuable information here. Also new friends with mutual interests that are always ready to give a hand if questions come up about Acuras.

Many questions have already been asked and answered so we have organized them and catalogued them in the 3G Garage sticky thread that you will find at the top of the index page.

Check the outline to locate your issue or you can always do a SEARCH using key words.

It looks like our XM secret bargain is continuing to roll. It's good to see all the members benefiting from it.

Thanks for providing this - I recently got a 2 year renewal notice for ~$270, but went with this 1-year deal instead. It was easy too.

I just looked up my credit card bill on-line and saw XMRadio charges for >$290!!

Called the # above, explained that I had moved (also needed to update my account info) and said that not only did I have the winback letter but had a charge I didn't authorize. Was about to launch into the "fix it or I'm cancelling" and she said no prob. Cancelled my service so I would get $290 back, then added me back with the $77 deal. She did say that I would have to reenable my XM in 2 hours. Worth it to save $$$.

Thanks for the instructions. Without them I would not have XM now.

Got my flyer in the mail today, and it has my radio code right on it. So it sounds to me like there is so many different phone #s, and so many operators, that they all don't know what XM is currently offering.

Yep- still works! But what a lot of dumba$$es that work there. I was put on hold for 15 minutes, then got thru and as the lady was processing it she disconnected me. The second dumba$$ said he couldn't find the special price. Hung up and got thru and 2 minutes later was done. $77 for 1 year.

Worked for me, too. I followed the script and it took about 15 minutes. She asked when I received the flyer in the mail so I said "hmm, I think it was a couple weeks ago." No problems though and she never asked for the z-winback code.

Although since I live in FL, they added tax to make it $88.31 for the year. Rediculous taxes, but still better than the $140 normal price.
