I may be incorrect, but I believe Honda has financial interests in XM as well?

I did this and it took about 20 minutes.
If you leave the car off... your radio does not see the code in the data stream from the satellite. That is what the rep said. The rep said you can also have the code re-sent from a request through the web site but I did not go that route.

They never mentioned anything of that sort to me, so I just left the car, but I did call back to have them try to resend the code, and again they never said anything about the radio being on (which makes perfect sense now that I think about it)
But I happened to be driving and the signal cam through. Thanks.

Well, those who still haven't done this yet, the script still works. Chalk it up to a case of the Friday's, but the lady who took care of my account was cordial and more than helpful. Like davenlei said, it took about 20 mins for my XM to be brought back online. Not bad at all, considering this was all completed on my drive from work!

My XM has been expired for about a week and a half. I used the $60 deal for my first year with XM. I called the number on this thread a few minutes ago and read her the line verbatim, "My subscription expired and I got a letter with a special price offer of $77. I think I would like to take you up on that." She didn't ask me a single question regarding the offer. She just went on to tell me all of there deals like family plans, there online XM radio website, etc etc. Asked me for a credit card, told me it would be $77 plus Florida taxes which pushed it to $88.08 and that was it. Real nice lady. I'll revisit this thread next year.

Does anyone know how many times this will work? I used it last year to renew and when I called today, the rep (who was very nice) said that "zwinback" could only be used once. Should I retry or is that true?

We'll have to scout around and see if we can come up with something. Prolly the first thing would be to let your subscription expire to see what that knocks loose from XM. They HATE to lose a customer.

We're still not sure what's going to happen when the $77 special runs out as that is just now happening to some folks.
My suggestion is to let the $77 offer expire. Make sure they don't automatically renew and charge your credit card because that will be an expensive default. If your radio doesn't stop working when it is supposed to expire, I would call and check the status.
Make sure it has expired and then you can wheel and deal. Some here have said that a threat to switch to Sirius will break loose some offers. We haven't confirmed that yet.
We do know, from collective experience, that XM hates to lose a customer and that, if your surbscription expires, they will bend over backwards to get you back.
Meanwhile, we await the results of the early $77 guys whose time to renew is upon us.

Worked Perfect For Me!
My free 3 months from when I bought my '06 just ended yesterday, I called and said "My subcription ended and I got a letter in the mail saying that I could get 1 year for $77 (saving $67 dollars!!) and I would like to do that." Then he said "Okay, can I have your radio code." Then I gave him it, along with my credit card info, and it was ALL done. Didn't even need to give the "zwinback" code! And yes ya'll, it is just a 1 time offer, I doubht you could get it 2 times.
Lets see if it turns the XM back on in the car in 15 minutes like they said it will!
I'll post again in this thread if it did not work.

XM called me
So XM called me yesterday about our expired service - I hadn't found the time to call them and use the script yet. We got the TL mid-December so I think we have been expired for a month. I just made mention about having a coupon around somewhere for $77 and she said "We can do that!" -- It took about two minutes to reup for the year. Thanks guys!

I used the script yesterday and just like everyone else worked like a charm. I might had a little more credibility than usual. She showed my service being shut off on the 8th which was the anniversary date of my purchase. But I was still getting service till the 18th. I know for sure but I had not been using the car during the day light time frames and most of the trips were short. So I might of escape the shut off transmission. Oh well just a thought and thanks to the forum for the script.
In fact we might change my wife's subscription from Sirius to XM.
Best of luck everyone

My XM ended couple weeks ago after a 1-year $60 deal. So $77 is the best we can do right now? It sure beats the $32.15 for 3 months deal they offered me to automatically renew, but still... don't like it when prices rise. Any chance of $60 deal returning any time soon.
The "value" of XM radio for me is right around $5/months so anything more than $60/year is pushing it. Anyone was able to get it for less that $77 in the last few months?

Still works!
My trial period doesn't end for 2 more months, but I called 800-682-4114, told them I'd received a flyer to subscribe for a year for $77, and mentioned the code "zwinback". Within minutes I was all signed up, and the charge isn't made until my trial period expires at which time I'll get another 12 months with no interruption. I figured I'd hop on this while it still worked, and it DOES still work!
This forum has already saved me big bucks! Thanks to all who posted the early success for me to follow.

My 12 month $60 deal is up at the end of the month. I received a bill for like 9 months/$140 dollars (whatever the regular rate is) to bring it thru the end of the year.
I'm probably going to renew at the 12/77 deal, but if I decide I don't want to, do I actually have to call to cancel, and if I don't will they automatically renew at regular rate and bill me?

okay I answered my own question.
Cliff's Notes: They do not automatically discontinue your account once a paid deal ends, but rather bill you for the rest of the year at the regular rate unless you explicitely cancel.
Cliff's Notes 2: I got 4 weeks free plus the 77 deal
I got the bill about 3 weeks ago, I didn't read it all that carefully so i assumed it was up at the end of april. Turns out it was up at the end of march.
It had my address incorect, so I'm guessing it went to the wrong house, they saw it, sat on it, then stuffed it in my mailbox.
So I called up and was like "I had a 12 month $60 deal, and it should've expired by now but I notice my radio still works" Then the guy said I'm being billed at the regular rate. I said "When I signed up for the deal I asked them to automatically cancel it when the deal was over, so I assumed it would be cancelled. Also I just got this bill because it had the wrong address on it. If I'd got it earlier I would've called earlier" Then he transfered me to the cancellation department, and I explained the whole thing again. He said he'd have to transfer me to the account retention department because he isn't able to credit me. Got transfered there, explained the whole thing again. The guy said I have a bill of 120.xx (I guess they bill for the rest of the year automatically which I think is bs). I said "could you cancel my service and reverse the charges" He asked me how much I was paying in my deal. I said $60. He said "are you sure?" I said "yes" He said "We can't offer you that but I can offer $77". I said "will that 77 start today or at the time the 12/60 deal ended". He said it would start today. So I said,"and you'll negate the entire 120 bill I was sent". He said he would. I said okay go ahead. I confirmed again that the only charge I'd see for the rest of the year is the $77. Then I asked him to fix my address and send me a letter confirmation of the bill.

I got my TL in Jan 05 so in April 05 I used the zwinback to get the $77 deal once my trial subscription expired without too much problem. My subscription expired just yesterday for the $77 deal. XM called me to offer my a winback deal of $12.99 for 3 months so a $4.99 a month rate. I took that for now. Not sure if I procrastinate again in 3 months if they will call back and offer me the same $12.99 for 3 months in hopes I keep renewing? Anyone else come across that?

When I called they didn't even have my address right.
I wonder how I got that flyer
They never asked for the zwinback code, but they did ask what kind of car I had.
$83.35 including tax.
