I read in the RL forums that one guy put in a remote start and had it hooked up to the lock button, so if it were pressed twice, the beeping noise would activate it.

It is possible. BUT... as soon as you remote start your car the remotes go dead. Did you ever notice that when you're car is running you can't lock or unlock your doors? If you use your OEM keyfob to remote start your car, you'll have to unlock the door with your key.
The older Acura TL, CL and RL had an actual alarm module under the passenger seat. With some rewiring you could trick the alarm module into thinking that the car is not running yet. This let the remotes lock and unlock even after you remote started the car. All newer Acura/ Honda cars have multiplexed security systems. This means that it's integrated into multiple modules throughout the car. No way to trick it.

here's the problem with this approach. the OEM keyfob doesn't have any range. so even if you do get it activated successfully which i don't believe would be the problem. you still need to be relatively close which almost eliminates the benefit. i want to be able to activate it from inside my home if it's parked street side and have it be all nice and cozy when i step outside a few minutes later.

ok well range isnt too bad for me i dont mind going to my front door to remote start it....heres a novel idea tho......what if u were to program it to i dunno say hit unlock twice and it starts the car then u dont have to worry about unlocking it.....ooorr if u could disable the panic feature and have that as a dedicated remote start button....cuz well ive never ever ever used that but these are just ideas.....i wish there was someway to have aftermarket keyfobs do memory seats cuz thats all i really care about

yes yes and yes
You can have remote start with your stock keyfob the sequence goes normally like this lock unlock lock and it will start or hit the lock button 3-4 times
the range not a problem i always use the remote under chin and i swear by it it triples the distance for me.
and ill find out what one i have and let you know

I understand why u would want to intergrate the remote start on the factory remote. Just keep in mind that the aftermarket remote has atleast twice the range and u also have the option of getting a two way remote to receive conformation that your car properly started ect....

I agree, the aftermarket remotes do increase the range and if I were to get a remote start, I wouldn't use the stock remote. The range of my stock remote has decreased drastically and I don't know what the reason is. My question is, somebody said that they wouldn't mind standing in front of the car to turn it on...does that not defeat the purpose of the remote start?
I'm interested in getting one too but which one would be a good buy? Clifford maybe?

I live in South Jersey (Home of Camden, NJ) i wouldnt leave my keys in my ignition in a convent around here.....and B. when i say in front of it i mean like 10 feet away.....from my front door i.e. warmth of the house

compustar makes one that is programable to do all of the things you want. the only issue you will have is unlock but you could just put your key in the door and unlock it. as for theft if its running, not happnin. if you step on the brake it will shut down. they might steal everything in your car but not your car

CompuStar is a great alarm/remote start. For some reason my customers hate them. I've got a BMW 330CI in my shop right now that I'm pulling one out of. Most people claim that they "have to have it" because it's the only fail safe remote start for manual transmissions. But it's such a pain in the ass that the convenience factor is gone.
Have we killed the remote start with OEM keyfob idea yet? Range is poop. You need to unlock your door manually.

it very simple to do, and is a matter of cutting 1 wire

when you remotestart the car you can lock and unlock the car while it's running. if the car is running with the key in the ignition it will not lock/unlock via the keyfob, just as it does without the remotestart module
all i used was the valet 56x model. forgot exactly which one it was, and not gonna tear my car apart to get to it. the stock remote box is 3 wires, power/ground/signal. you use the signal wire.
