License plate LED's that don't Burn out?
License plate LED's that don't Burn out?
So like many users here, I replaced my LEDs through out my car but I remember reading that alot of people had the LEDs burn out for those license plate bulbs.
Recently, my LED bulbs started dying, first they were flickering, then flashing and now totally dead for a week or 2. I picked up the 4 LED wedge bulbs from V-LEDS.com.
Basically I am looking for some license plate LED's that someone here has personally used for 8+ months and no problems.
Thanks in advance guys!

I got these and no problems the past several months. I think it's the heat sink that helps 'em last; not sure though.

Bearcat- reading through that thread, I wasn't sure which one you ordered. Did you get the Autolumination ones or the V-LEDS high power LED lights?
sixsixfour- I saw the pictures of your LED lighting and it is insane and what inspired me to redo my lights as well. But were your LED license plate bulbs the wedged bulb type with 2 thin wires as the "connection point"? Any idea what brand they were?

I've had these since ~ March or early April:
I've had my License Plate LED's in for a few months and had no problems; and they look a lot like the lights on the IS350. Here what I put in:
- License plate lights:
www.superlumination.com - SuperNova

BTW, I got this information from the following thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/sale-comptech-springs-so-cal-area-173833/

I have two friends that went with the cold cathode tube. Took about 30 mins to install. Looks sharp and no issues with blinking or going out. I have the 194 super bright light LED's since April and no issues. I also have them in my old TSX and I noticed the sockets in the TL hold the bulbs much tighter. So hopefully these will last a long time, since LED's are suppose to.
8/10ths of the way down to purchase these.
I use the WLED-WHP's I had one burn out in one year, and the other is going strong.
Thanks guys, I am reconsidering the Cathode light route now... ordering just these 2 license plate bulbs is going to cost me $15 with shipping!!!! So I may just go the cold cathode route... reviewing the instructions again, it doesn't seem that difficult....
I was also trying to make up my mind long ago about the license plate lights since I am an LED freak. It's been said the reason the LEDs die is probably due to the repeated shock of closing the trunk.
Anyways I went the CCT route and I must say I am a HUGE fan of the mod. I have had mine going strong for 2 yrs. now and without a hiccup. To be frank I thought by now something would go wrong but knock on wood it is perfect. It looks complicated but it is a really easy and fast mod. Just took me 2 hrs. I did it on bforbrian's car too and it took me only 1 hr. that time. Nice bright, clean, white light. Not bad for a $10 mod.

Thanks dude, i may go the CCFL route, will probably pick up 2 whites for the lights and 2 blues for the interior...hopefully it doesn't take me 2 hours... to get it done.
But you telling me that you have had it for 2 years strong has sold me.

I've been happy with my CCFLs... They did burn out after about 2 years. I would really recommend reading the last 2 pages... There are some really good post about simplifying the install with spade connectors and using multiple inverters to prevent total failure.
I also LOVE the lights in my trunk.. Even if you get LEDs for your License plates, consider CCFL for trunk lighting..
Ill post some of the pictures (if I can find them) on the Cold Cathode Thread.
PS... http://www.oznium.com/cathodes sells 4 inch tubes that might simplify the install as well.

I got a set of CCFL and I want to put them either under my dash or trunk.
I'd like to see that CCFL setup in the trunk.....
BTW i use the 194 High Power LED (Xenon White) Wedge Bulb from ebay.
Been using these leds for about year and half. I have them on my doors and
license plates. Great bulb

I wired a relay up to my interior lights... they dim, I figured that would be bad for the inverters..

and a third option...
