iSimple almost lit my car up...

I was driving down the 57 when I smelled some burning plastic, not thinking much of it thinking it was outside, I noticed it was getting worse. Then I noticed smoke was coming out of the center arm console where I snaked the cord to. And lo and behold the cord was buring up and the connector piece had partially melted. I then pulled over and unplugged the cord. iSimple is just crap... Anyone know a better system that can allow me to use my steering wheel controls?

That's crazy sorry to hear that. I really like the USA-SPEC brand, been using them for many years had one in my FX and now the TL. I have the PA15-HON3 Steering wheel and HU controls work perfect can access the device directly as well. Text display, Playlist mode, folder mode, direct mode, aux input for another device etc etc. it does everything I want.

would recommend usa spec thats what i got in my tl since I bought my TL, been 6-7 years and still running good. Had to buy a small iphone adapter to charge my iphone 4g tho, but the new updated usa spec should be fine.

You can't just say iSimple is crap just because you had a defective model lol

I LOVE my iSimple!

Sorry to hear what happened though! Never heard of this problem before.

Maybe take it up with the company?

I just purchased a Belkin Bluetooth apple interface for 60. Works great. No problem pairing. Song info is not displayed on head unit. Works with my iPhone and iPad

Same here =)

iSimple has 3 modes: AUX1, AUX2, iPod.

iPod mode has steering controls and song info display. You can't select songs using your iphone/ipod as it goes in accessory mode.
AUX1 has steering control but no song info display and you can use your ipod/iphone to select songs using its GUI.
AUX2 is for the 3.5mm jack input so you can use anything like a non-apple connector such as any other phone, etc. Obviously, no steering control, no song info.
