iPhone 4S and Bluetooth
I have an 04 TL with Navi. My iPhone 3 bluetooth worked fine, no problems pairing or using bluetooth. I just got the 4S and tried to pair it, OI get to the point of telling the TL my 4 digit code for pairing and telling my phone to pair and the TL phone system hangs. The pair code remains on the panel and I can;t cancel or clear it. Shutting off the car did not resolve the issue, when I restart the pair code shows back up on the TL panel and is stuck there, even if I leave the car off for several hours. I finally disconected the battery to reboot the car and thta cleared it. I tried to pair again and the same thing happened. Ug.
Anyone else seeing this with with their new iPhone 4S?

My wife just got an IPhone 4S. I called Acura dealer and checked Acura website to verify compatibility. IPhone 4S is NOT compatible with her '05 TL. It will not pair.
I'm searching ideas to fix w/o big money spent.

Is the 05 TL compatible with a Samsung Captivate Galaxy? I wasn't having any luck when I tried awhile back but of course I don't have an owners manual. Seems I heard there were problems with the Captivate.

My iPhone 4S paired fine with no problems, however, when I tried to "import phonebook" it was importing for far longer than it usually takes. After about ten minutes I ended up turning the car off without letting it finish. Haven't attempted it again.

Siri not working w/ 2009 TL HFL w/ NAV
Hi all, got my iphone4s to pair just fine. Despite the usual frustration of not being able to have an outgoing call (initiated by the handset) transfer to HFL until after the person answers, I'm having major Siri frustration. When trying to push the siri home button on my phone it won't try to detect my audio input like it does when I'm not in my car. I have to push it a few times, something flashes on the nav screen then goes away, then finally I can use Siri like normal. But it's a real pain in the butt. Anyone else have a nav model TL where they've been able to get this to work? I saw another post from a 2006 non-Nav TL where it works great but I'm wondering if something different between 2006 and 2009 or nav and non-nav is throwing it for a loop?

07 WDP TL Type S
gguest - I just did the same thing, and I do notice that siri takes awhile to respond while its connected to the HFL. I think Siri is trying to transfer audio to HFL and HFL is not picking it up. Usually takes 2-3 tries to activate siri from the phone when I'm in my car.

The iPhone 4s will pair with the 05 Acura TL but not without some difficulty. I kept getting stuck after you enter the 4 digit code, and the HFL asks you to name the phone that is paired. My HFL would consistently 'quit' after I'd speak the desired name of my newly paired phone. After about a half an hour of this, it finally took the name. I made test calls, transferred audio back and forth, and all is well.
Not to deviate from the OP, but I even have my 4s working with my iSimple which as an older unit, which I was told would need to be upgraded (swapped out); however, a consistent incompatibility message displays on my device, it still charges, and functions as it should.

I too am having difficulty... Like another poster said, I get to entering the PIN, the. It says it has been paired, then asks me for a name, then quits. I tried deleting all old phones, still no luck...
Also, a very big flaw I noticed... So I tried editing an existing phone, all that did was ask for a new name... I gave it one... When I later go to list the phones, it lists my old name/recording... But then to delete it, I had to specify the NEW name, even though te new name didn't exist when I asked it to list!!!

I have an '08 without Navi. I was able to pair my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0.1) without any problem. Siri doesn't work through the HFL. I didn't try to import any contact from the phone to HFL. I just added a couple numbers to HFL manually. iPhone 4S allows you to dial a number on the phone then push the call via BT to the HFL.

Let Acura HFL know. That's the quickest way to get a resolution.

Keep Right Except to Pass
Some of you are talking about importing the phonebook. Note that the 2004 TL doesn't support that feature. I think the 2005 doesn't either; beyond that, I don't know.

I couldn't pair my Iphone4 and had just given up, however I replaced the Battery last weekend, and on a whim I tried pairing this morning and it worked.
I doubt the battery had anything to do with it, I didn't know about the wifi thing though.

Issues saving recorded name for phone pairing resolved
Just recently purchased a 2006 TL and was trying to pair up my iPhone5 with the car. First thing I did was delete all the old pairings.
I was able to get past the 4 digit code, and the HFL does find the phone. Then when I go to record the name "justin's iphone", the system comes back and says "justin's iphone sounds too much like justin's iphone, choose another name that is different or longer". This went on over and over after I finally gave up and started reading these message boards.
Today I called HFL customer service @ 888-528-7876, got right to a rep. I called from another cell phone so I could walk through setting up this one with him on the phone.
The first thing he had me do was start the car, push talk and say "SYSTEM CLEAR". It then asks for confirmation, go through those steps, then do the "Phone Setup Pair" command. After doing the system clear I was able to fully pair my phone with no issues. You will have to redo and Phonebook entries that were recorded.
Good luck and I hope this helps!

Acura TL Bluetooth System Quitting After Trying to Name the Phone
I had this same problem (my particular configuration - 2006 Acura TL with HTC Evo 4G smartphone). MY SOLUTION IS WRITTEN BELOW (although there is, of course, no guarantee that it will work for you). One night, I spent over an hour trying different combinations of things with my car and my phone. I gave up and went inside the house. The next morning, I was thinking about the fact that the system won't let you pair when the car is in motion. I was thinking that some sensor somewhere or GPS positioning may be causing the problem. I was also thinking about the fact that my driveway is inclined. So, I moved the car with the following FOUR KEY OBJECTIVES: (1) move the car off the inclined driveway to someplace flat; (2) when I stop the car, do so somewhat firmly; (3) move the car into an open area/ without cover to block satellites; and (4) leave the car running. With those things accomplished, the pairing did in fact work.
