Hey guys idk if this was covered already here but I just wanted to share what I found out. I got my iPhone 4s on Friday and its an amazing phone. Who's ever having doubts about getting because they think it's the same as the iPhone 4. well it's not, I paired my iPhone 4s with my car with hands free link and the Siri assistant that comes with the phone works amazingly and connects to our car. For example if I hold down the home button on my phone Siri comes up and the handsfree link picks it up right away. I can use the microphone on the car to ask it anything and you hear it through the car speakers. It feels like my car is my personal assistant :p lol. So I can text back, ask it to read my message and I can do all that through the car which is a lot safer than looking at your phone. You can basically ask Siri anything. I just thought it was really cool I can use the hands free link with siri it's very convienient

Thanks for the update. I have the iPhone4 and have been on the fence about whether or not I want to upgrade. This may help me decide. I am curious though, do you have to initiate Siri from the iPhone, or is there a way to do it from the car controls?

Before you spend your money on the 4s try upgrading you ios, there's a new update out. It's ios5 just plug it into your computer and start Itunes. I went into apple and the phone store to try to see what all the hype was all about. Both places told me it wasn't really worth the cost and the cost of breaking a contract to upgrade.

What year TL do you have? (WhitE-aNgel)

I've got a 2006 TL and I see different things about HFL pairing with iPhone 4 or 4s. The HFL web site says "not compatible"...while several people in this format say their iPhone works fine with 2006 TLs.

Can anyone else sound in with advice on iPhone 4/4s pairing with a 2006 TL?

WhitE-aNgEL,

I haven't pruchases the iPhone4s yet....I was just saying that the HFL site says (apparently incorrectly) that iPhone 4 is NOT compatible with a 2006 TL.

But I'm excited to hear from you that the 4s is pairing with the '06 TL!

I have an '06 TL non-nav...I'm guessing that you have navigation...so hopefully that minor difference won't make a difference?

I love it! I've owned every single iPhone and IMHO this is the best one yet. They really out do themselves this time don't have any seconds thoughts about upgrading. It's worth getting

Anyone successfully imported the phone list from an iPhone 4s?

Pairing and calling works with little to no issues.

iPhone 4s and TL pairing
White Angel,

Final question: is your iPhone 4s from ATT or Verizon?

For some reason the HFL web site lists the ATT iPhone 4 as compatible, whereas it lists the Verizon 4s as not compatible. Seems weird...I can't imagine why it would be this way.

Anyone else out there successfully pair a 2006 TL (or 2004-2007 TL) with Verizon iPhone 4s?

I have the AT&T iPhone .. And reason why the verizon iPhone won't connect is prob because you can't talk and do other stuff at the same time while AT&T iPhone can .

Thanks for the update and checking. While I would love the better camera and faster processor, I just am not a voice control kind of guy. Siri is great, but I don't see it as necessary. I primarily use Vlingo or Dragon in my car if I have to do a quick text. If Siri interface with the TL more completely, that would help sway my decision.

Hi, glad that I found people talking about iPhone 4s.

Did anybody figure out how to call Siri from Handsfreelink, and not from iPhone? also onece I call Siri, it switches to speaker from HandsfreeLink.

I have the same issue, pairing was fine but it doesn't seem to import my phonebook. The screen sits at "importing phonebook" for a long time. I have the iphone 4s from verzion. Any solutions?

I emailed Acura HFL department and they'll get back to me after they can obtain an iPhone 4S and verify my findings.

Workaround I found is to import the phone book using an iPhone that's compatible (my trusty iPhone 3G works well and took 30 seconds or so). Afterwards I can call anyone with my 4S using the imported phone book.

Haven't figured out a way to get Siri to work with HFL yet. Tried it in both phone mode and bluetooth audio settings.

I know the question is about iphone 4s, but this may help:

I imported my contact/phone list from my iphone 4 to my 08 TL navi. The importing cellular phone book message stayed on the screen for a long time and I don't remember if it timed out and gave an error or if I got where I was going and just turned it off, but it did work. It seems to have imported everything. BTW, its my Exchange contact list on the iphone.

So I can go to info, cellular phone book, search for a contact, and from there either call or add to HFL. If you add to HFL, you can then voice dial the contact by name.

Not sure, but I think the import cellular phone book might only work on the navi cars?

ok i feel like a retard here. ive done every single mod imaginable and some never even thought of here before, but im clueless when it comes to my own car as far as the navigation/hfl. ive owned the car since new back in 07 and ive never tried importing my contacts until i read this thread. i just went out and actually opened the owners manual

followed the directions and successfully imported all my contacts from my iphone4. big deal, i know

**WhItE-aNgEl** try and get a video up so we can see how cool the siri feature is.

Paired Verizon iPhone 4S with 2004 TL, with no problems. Haven't tried using Siri through the HFL, though.

Ok got my phone i paired it up with the car with no issues. I was also able to import my phonebook into the car without any issues. Calling while dailing from the phone works like this. You call from phone. Person picks up and than you are able to transfer call into the HFL. If phone number is saved in Navi you can just search for it and click on it and it will call. And now SIRI i still dont know how to use it.Maybe white angel can help me out lol i dont understand how siris voice can come through the cars speakers..

In the 3g Acuras (2004-2008) the bluetooth will override the devices speaker, so you cannot use Siri or any device related voice options (Vlingo on Droid).

The 4g cars do not have problems. HFL has no plans to update their FW to support these features.

I tried all the different settings for siri, and still couldn't get it to work. Are you using a verizon, att or sprint iPhone 4s? I have a feeling it is similar to the fact that you can not make a call on an att iPhone from the phone and have the HFL automatically pick up the call while its ringing, you have to wait until someone picks up since thats when the att iPhone starts its timer. Although, on the verizon one, the timer for the call starts right away, and you can pick "handsfree link" in the call menu right away. Siri probably functions similarly

I just went outside to try this and Siri doesn't work for a few seconds if it is connected via bluetooth to my car, and I think this is the iPhone attempting to send the voice to the Handsfreelink which isn't activating. I don't know if the handsfree link is different in the 06 tl at all.

I paired up my Iphone 4S just fine in my 08 TL-S but I can't get Siri to come thru the HLF either. I'm in Canada so my Iphone is from Telus so I'm not sure what's wrong with that. If someone can come up with a fix for that it would be great.

I think some of the issue are the service provider. My personal 3Gs from ATT works perfectly. Work just sent me a Sprint 4s and it will not pair with any of my cars,

2008 Toyota Rav4

Same issue as everyone. Siri doesn't come through HFL. I noticed that White Angel didn't have the Tech package. That's the difference for me and that my car is an 09.
